I was an avid Duncan Hunter supporter. I was thrilled to find a candidate I could vote FOR instead of against. I was very disappointed that(IMOHO)he was thrown under the bus by the drivebys and his own party and forced to drop out.

Then, in a lesser of evils scenario, I considered Fred for a few minutes until he dropped out.

I used to joke about Ron Paul. But facing such a field of pretenders, I had to take another look.

The choices I am left with are abysmal. My guy endorsed Huckabee. While I enjoy his 2A stance and pro-life leanings, I just can’t get around all the pardons and the dollar a month rent deal on the Mexican Consulate, which was done, as I understand it, to aid Tyson in acquiring a cheap labor pool. I didn’t support him in the beginning because his initial claim to fame was losing a couple hundred pounds or something like that and being from Hope.
Been there, done that. To me, he is a mixture of a semi-clean Bill Clinton, and Elmer Gantry.

Giuliani’s big thing is 9/11 and national security. I understand he was successful as Mayor of New York City, no small feat, but he is a gun grabber. National security and gungrabbing are diametrically opposed, just like WOT and open borders.

What about John McCain? His conservative cred comes from the media, who seem to adore him. Ah. John McCain. The “Maverick” Republican Senator. The “Comeback Kid”.
The war hero who paid his dues at the Hanoi Hilton and served his country all his life.

But my dear friends, let us not forget Keating 5, Gang of 14, CFR, and Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which, let me remind you again my friends, is not amnesty.

Nevermind.

The best one of the bunch is Romney. But is that really saying so much? I remember the flip flop on abortion. Maybe it really was an honest change of heart. But then there are his business connections. I’m hearing way too much about China to suit me.

Again I decide to look at Ron Paul. He seems to be good on 2A. Definitely a pro-lifer. Doesn’t believe in judges legislating from the bench. Hates the UN, doesn’t believe in hate crimes, wants to explore nuclear energy and drilling at home. Wants to repeal most federal drug laws, so he’s definitely not a nanny stater. Doesn’t believe in reverse discrimination, AKA affirmative action. He is against illegal immigration, disastrous free trade and LOST.

How could Ron Paul possibly be that much worse than the others?

He’ll probably want to dismantle the FedGov too quickly, not giving the states or the people any time to adjust.

Another thing is he gives other countries the benefit of the doubt. “Ah yes, Mr. President, this is President Ahemdinejad calling to affirm our friendship. Yes, have a good day my friend.” Do not want

Another thing is what does he define as ‘arms’. Could I own an M4 for just $500? Or would he continue the Class III BS.

He just doesn’t understand the threat posed from more than one country overseas. Nevermind that, the threat that Mexico poses. He also doesn’t believe in NAFTA/CAFTA last I remember, I don’t mean that he doesn’t believe it will happen, I mean he doesn’t believe there’s a conspiracy to join Mexico, the US and Canada in the NAU.

He isn’t too much worse, but he has been all over the map on abortion and is a johnny come lately to border security, in addition to his *unusual* pelosi-esque stance on the war against the jihadis.

Other than that, he’s perfect. LOL

That was precisely my logic.
