I don't like any of the remaining candidates, but I think McCain has the best chance of beating the Democrats in November.
I was pulling for Thompson before he dropped out. I thought he was the only conservative in the race that had a chance at winning in November. With him out of the race now, I'm left with choosing the best of the worst.
But (save for Ron Paul) I will vote in November for whoever wins the nomination. I wish there was a way for everyone to lose.

I think that you are right, to a degree. But I think that Romney had a decent shot of pulling off economic conservatives from the Demos.
But Romney is dead. He’s not even convincing GOP voters that he is better than McCain when it comes to the economy.
GOP voters can be really dumb, I must admit.
I agree with a lot of what you say.
When I saw Hunter go nowhere for a long time, I made Fred my second choice. I agree it APPEARS NOW that McCain has the best chance to win. Given the unpredictable nature of politics and months of time until the election, I’m not confident that will hold. I can envision scenarios in which the McCain candidacy collapses during the general. Concerning Romney, I think he has a better chance than appears now, or more potential than he has reached in current polls.
But neither is anything but a crap shoot.
The problem with McCain is that even if he stayed viable and won, what you would get in governance would come as a nasty result for us conservatives, I fear.
