I suppose the write-in option is implied in proposing a third-party vote. It would be similarly effective, I imagine.

My point is, for a vote to count, the candidate has to be ON the ballot, or be an "official" write-in. Other wise it is counted as a "non vote"

I thought it would be more of a protest vote, with our votes going to a CONSERVATIVE Party candidate. True, they won't win, but neither will McCain.
