Thanks. I am proud of my daughter. I am going to help her become a delegate to the Washington State Convention. She wants to go to the National Convention.

I think I’ll buy a bunch of AK underfolders and resell them when consciousness of coming gun bans sets in. I could triple my money.

I honestly don’t know what McCain is smoking. Or what he is thinking. He’s not going to win without the conservative base, and the conservative base hates his guts.

This is a nightmare worse than the second Clinton victory.

"Not to worry... I will support McCain. I can’t imagine that I’d ever leave the GOP."

Sadly, people like you are part of the reason we are where we are.

McCain is no conservative and supporting the man means supporting open borders, amnesty, liberal judges, the fairness doctrine, more restrictions on free speech and liberal social policies.

Sure we have to support the troops and finish the job in Iraq, but I believe we could have done better.... MUCH better...

And suit yourself, but it will be a very cold day in hell before I vote for that traitorous bastard

"Blutarsky’s advice to members of the GOP, is to start drinking heavily."

Yes sir, I will. :D

Right On, N A H, I quit when I die. I am getting a little disgusted with some of my fellow FReepers lately. The wounds are still fresh, I know, but stiff upper lip and all that.

Actually—JC watts would be better. Maybe Ken Blackwell, or even Kay Bailey Hutchinson. ANY of that would go a long way to neutralize Dyke or Osama.

The real fun has not yet begun.

This fun I speak of will be the the finale to what began some seven years ago and has exponentially grown like a cancer within.

Faction infighting that at first was for the credit of the wins, and then to purge the impure and unnecessary.

The political hubris resulted in scandals and corruption in Congress, and a constant churn of various issues that were platforms to teach President Bush a lesson in true conservatism.

Well it all worked quite well. Bush was a lame duck within weeks of beginning his second four year term, and then we lost the midterm elections and with it the House and Senate.

Now we will lose even more seats as long serving Republican politicians felt the earth move and decided to get out of the way. Add to that the vulnerability of the numerous seats that will change hands and we have ourselves a complete disaster.

If all that is not bad enough, the segments of the base who felt the wrath of both the social and now fiscal conservatives, namely the more moderate folks in the East, and the social moderate bunch who are otherwise very conservative have banded together with the country club blue bloods and decisively cut the entire right wing off the GOP by shoving McCain right in their (or might I say "Our" faces.

After the shock wears off, someone is going to pay. Someone is going to be blamed for all of this.

The trouble is, there are so many twists and turns in the process of destroying the Republican Party which involved so many actors, and sectors of the base that finding a responsible target for the deep seated anger is going to be difficult.

I suppose the shotgun will be used as opposed to the scalpel and 00-buckshot the load of choice as people and groups begin to go at each other with vengence in mind..

I suspect it will begin soon if not already underway. It will not end until it does end and it will not be civil or even explainable. History will not reflect that there was a victor.

Yes, it will be a hoot.

“Anyone that thinks John McCain stands a chance this fall is off their rocker.”

I keep saying, the national polls show him beating Hilary OR Obama. Why does that make me off my rocker? Why are you condemning him to lose in face of the current polling data?

“Bush has been a millstone around the GOP label.”

Myself, I very much appreciate his service, especially in the War and Supreme Court Justice areas. I think history will judge him kindly.

“So who the heck is voting for this anti-First
Amendment, pro-amnesty for illegal immigrants,
pro-embryonic stem cell research candidate to
give him a victory??”

People who don’t believe Romney’s recent conversions to pro-life, anti-homo rights, no federal health care, and so forth.

People who were uncertain Huck could handle foreign policy, saw him as a huckster, or suspected his motived.

I didn’t vote for McCain today. But I don’t look down on those who did. It’s a tough choice, this year.
