My 2002 union-built S-10 pick-up truck is one such crappy vehicle. A defective exhaust valve in the engine blew out after 35,000 miles, the ABS systenm has been troublesome from the start, and the dealership had to pull the engine (still under warranty) to just change the oil pan gasket.
Yeah, I'd say that this is pretty crappy engineering and quality control.
