The ideals are good but the apparatus sucks. Poverty makes for good terrorist recruiting and also support for dictators. However, whacking the tax payers of the US when we are the ones raising the world’s standard of living already is BS!!!

Bin Laden, Arafat, and others who recruited and funded terrorists were billionaires. They did not engage in terrorism because they were poor.

In recent years, 5 of the world’s 10 richest men lived in the middle east. It is not a poor region of the world.

There may be poor people among those nations but it is not the fault of the US nor is it our responsibility to shrink the gap between “rich and poor” by giving them our money.

They need to take out the tyrrants at the top and share the wealth within those nations. But then they all want to be the warlord at the top of the heap. Scarface for a day.

Poverty does nothing of the kind. Most terrorists come from middle-class to affluent parents and are reasonably well educated.

Poverty is caused by dictators, it does not add to a population's support for such despots.

The solution to poverty is wealth and stealing wealth from the richest country and people will not solve the problem, see welfare. This will create a poverty of spirit to go along with the poverty in the pocketbook.
