McCain to offer up a Rice Prez

U.S Elections 2008

By Nigel Nelson

Presidential wannabe John McCain is poised to ask US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to be his running mate - in a bid to see off Barack Obama.

Republican McCain believes Afro-American Condi could be his secret weapon now Obama looks most likely to become Democrat candidate.

And political pundits believe a McCain-Rice ticket would be unbeatable.

Washington columnist Nicholas von Hoffman said: "She is pure political gold. The woman is tough, fast on her feet and able to give better than she gets."

Polls say Obama would whip McCain by 50 per cent if they went head to head now.

The Republican is expected to win the backing of former President George Bush Snr tomorrow.

Meanwhile Obama's weakened rival for the Democrat candidacy, Hillary Clinton, is trying to appeal to middleclass and Latino voters ahead of the primaries in Wisconsin, Ohio and Texas.

HE needs a conservative, not an affirmative action pick.

One, I don’t think she’d want it. My strong impression is that she’s fulfilled her service to the country and would like to do something else.
Two, I think, honestly, that her star has really faded during W’s second term.

But that’s just my opinion.

Dubya’s, what say you?

Michael Steele would be awesome. Or Alan Keyes.

If this happens, sure as hell some nitwit on the Today show is going to ask, “Is this country ready for a black woman as vice-president?”

And Obama isn't?

Not to be argumentative, cause I agree that we don't need to play the same games as the Left, but what commends the people running now but skin color, 35 years of managing bimbo eruptions, and being a rogue against his party (more against President Bush, specifically)?

I doubt Condi will accept this position. Like so many others in the current administration, she probably can’t wait to get out of office and out of the public eye...

Alan has the 911 on the O as well.

I went back and watched the debates with O on his site.

My basis for going for McCain is SCOTUS picks. We can’t afford two or three marxist judges on the SCOTUS for the next two decades. So if Condi will win it by all means get her.

Condi wandered off the rez a bit while at State, but then again State is a pan-Arabist left wing foggy swamp. She has to work with them and can’t help but be influenced by them.

Lately, she’s been coming back to the fold. For example, she just seriously PO’d Putin.

She is brilliant. Frankly don’t care about her gender or race except for the political considerations.

She has said or at least implied that she doesn’t want VP, but I can’t see her turning down the chanceto make history. Think I’d vote for that ticket.

PS McCain still sucks, but not as much as Hillary or Obama.

agree - and it seems the Brits don’t understand that it’s the dimRats who pick people because of color and gender, not the republicans.

Hey Condi was my pick for President way before this mess started, and it had nothing to do with affirmative action.

I’m leaning that way (focused of SCOTUS picks) too, although the thought of voting for McCain churns my stomach. Then again, the idea of a Hillary or Obama Presidency just scares the cr@p out of me.

It would help the womens vote a bit, but then you might as well pick a white woman.

With McCain’s comments on Alito and his antics with the Gang of 14, I don’t trust him to make as good of picks as Obama would. (That is, not at all)
