‘Police responded to several calls reporting a man holding people at gunpoint. Officers determined the man with a gun had a legitimate concealed weapons permit and was trying to help, Heller said”

Good story and positive outcome. My only issue is its spreading the thought that we have to have a permit to have a firearm.

Unless it was concealed on his person he doesn’t need a permit. In Florida its perfectly legally to have a firearm in your glove box or other place not immediately accessible.

There. Fixed it.

I think this happened in Michigan.

I am pro-2nd amendment and applaud his courage and altruism. It’s a good thing, though, that the cops did not shoot first and ask questions later when responding to a report of a man holding people at gunpoint. You never know.

I would also like to applaud the victim in this incident. He saw what looked like a kidnapping or possible abuse and tried to stop it. Too bad it looks like the woman he was trying to help was an idiot.

...the woman he was trying to help was an idiot.

For some people getting beaten up and kidnapped apparently is foreplay. She must have enjoyed it and wanted to share with others.

I hope someone posts the booking pics.

Don't know if they were "booked." Article says they were arrested and released.

All too true. But what I want to know is, were those bullets numbered and registered? /s

No loud shots fired, nothing to worry about here. I don’t usually get too excited until I see those orange flashes from a gun pointed in my direction.

Two women, including the woman he tried to help, got out of the van and began hitting and stomping the victim while he was on the ground, Heller said.

Reminds me of the time I intervened in a drunken domestic dispute. The guy was slapping his girlfriend around, and had bloodied her nose. When I tried to get him to back off, they both jumped on me.

“...a legitimate concealed handgun permit...”

As opposed to an illegal or illegitimate one???

This almost skirts the edge of the dreaded “CCW Badge” discussion...Right???

I guess I am just never happy one way or another the way these stories are put onto paper these days...

;-)
