The strike is designed to leave no space debris. It's called land debris when it crashes into your backyard.

OUCH! We just finished remodeling, took EIGHT months! I hope we don’t get zapped by it. It was neat living in So. Cal. sometimes you could see the fireworks when they shot down a missile during testing. I think from vandenberg AFB

It's called land debris when it crashes into your backyard. The plan is to have it reduced to small enough pieces that will burn up upon de-orbit.
Small pieces left in orbit would constitute a hazard for future navigation. Thus the use of the phrase 'space debris'.

It's called land debris when it crashes into your backyard. Which is not nearly so likely to be a problem with a bunch of little pieces reentering. Most, or even all, will burn up before they reach the ground. Not so it the whole 5,000 lb piece of junk reenters all in one piece, and breaks into a few still large pieces during reentry.
