Agree... Living in Colorado, our legislature went from being conservative to being liberal. Also look at Arizona. Their governor is a piece of work. She is pushing for "big brother" type of technology on the roads such as photo radar.

I also recently lost my job and there is not much work for high tech here. Unfortunately, one of the places being considered is California. The company I work for, I was strongly told that I should consider work on the East Coast (DC, MD, VA) if I wanted to stay with them. Unless you are high management, relocation stinks. One of their requirements for relocation in order to get the money is you are required to sell your house.

The flight from California is not good news for the rest of the nation. The refugees bring California with them wherever they go. “Colorado is nice but it needs more land use ordinances.” Idaho is nice but it needs more regulation of(fill in the blank).” That leads to the (excuse me)Californication of the rest of the West.

Yes, and taxes and regulation are going up now. I could just spit. But the Republican party here is a clown show.

You would have to increase your pay by 50% or more to live as well in those states.

Have them look at Phoenix or Tucson. There is a crisis in housing (so lots of cheap homes) in the outlying areas of Phoenix like Queen Creek or Buckeye. Phoenix is pretty high tech, Tucson not as much but I’d recommend either one. I lived there 20 years. You can choose the environment you want: city, farm, mountains, suburbs, etc. The governor has only 3 years left and is term limited out. And the legislature is one of the most conservative in the country. Tucson is probably the nicest city in the state. I miss it a lot! But I do love Fresno.
