Again, not surprising, it all depends how you look at it. You are looking at the situation as if you were the owner of the team, or at least management or the captain of a sinking ship :)... Your interest is obviously for the "team." Let's just try to win the season and we'll discuss the situation later. My fear is, we if do and 'fall in line,' with the party, that will be the equivalent of submission... All bark and no bite... :) as I like to call it.
I am afraid at this point, many like me simply "had it." Just like it happens everyday... As it just did with the "writers strike in CA," there is a TIME when you have to take sides and hang tough or you will never get the things you want. Again, to my surprise, the writers (not people a like much), hung tough and got the concessions they wanted!... Although they could have been replaced by others and lose the whole thing... BUT THEY HUNG THOUGH and won!
The other side of coin is, I am a nobody! :)... I don't even who in heck runs the Republicans... But I know enough to finally realize, whoever these people are, their agenda is not the one of Social-Conservatives... THAT I KNOW!
But it is not difficult to imagine there must be a huge group of very powerful people, well connected, with lost of $ I am sure, who, very privately...quietly... can flex their muscle to make the GOP do what the party is known for... mainly to protect their interest... which really means, their $$$$$, that is the bottom line as I see it.... Hmmm, which by the way... I wonder, if I were one those rich guys, leaving in a mansion in a paradise in the middle of nowhere, where no peons can ever set foot miles from their homes... Would I be caring about SOCIAL-VALUES? - lol - probably not :)... $$$$ is what I would be after... lots of it and the hell with the rest.
What am I really saying? :)... That I am tired of the team's ownership and management and at this point I could care less what happens to it. I much would rather the season to be a disastrous one... so that CHANGES... will have to take place. Anything less, will simply prolong a painful death.. I'd rather just get it over with quickly and let the chips fall where they may.
One more thought... It will not be the END OF THE WORLD...We'll recover if we can get it together and perhaps we'll come back stronger, hungrier and better. And if we don't... Well... who knows...
Also I would like to state that my interest is not for the "team" (the GOP), but for the nation. I couldn't care less what becomes of the GOP. It's just that right now it is the only available vehicle for opposing the Rat agenda.
I agree that our nation will survive whatever comes. However, I believe in a moral imperative to do what I can to stop a greater evil from taking power, and the Rat party and a Rat administration would definitely bring greater evil.
We only have 9 more months to dance around the issues. Take care.
Your right on the money. Conservatives can't keep giving in to the worst of two evils as our country keeps slipping into a deformed form of democracy, let this election go. Let the country, the GOP, and all the usefull idiots see what unqualifed dopes can do to our system. Vote for a strong Republican congress and senate and hope they can keep the damage to a Jimmy Carter level of damage. Next election we demand change to this idiiotic open primary baloney and hopefully our country will see the need for a strong conservative government once again. If McCain wins it will be only because the two socialist will be exposed, not through popular vote.

No, look again. I said I would vote for McCain in the General if I had my say...and after everyone had their say-barring some sort of scandal or something really bad. If my party-all elements of it-had chosen McCain then I would vote for him. This did not happen so I won’t vote for him. He was foisted upon the party. I don’t know anyone who supports McCain enthusiastically. This is why I believe the Repubs will lose in the fall. Personally, I will still vote for other Repubs-hope to salvage congress. I fear some voters will merely igonore the election and stay home or worse vote for Sen. Obama who makes an appealing candidate (too liberal of course).
You know I was re-reading your post and If I didn’t say so before it it a great post (about how the Repubs left us) and explains perfectly why I and may others will not vote for McCain.
I am hoping Repubs will obstruct Obama or Clinton. They certainly will not obstruct McCain which is why I won’t vote for him. The house has two year elections. Some senators will be running. If McCain loses, plenty may believe it is because of the immigration issue. I hope this will scare other Repubs into listening to the voters for a change.
If the Dems had a primary system similar to the Repubs, Hillary would be the nominee. The only reason Obama had a chance is because most primaries were not winner take all but proportionate. Sadly, I think the Dem’s system is better than the Repubs in some ways-you would not get McCain with a system like that.
The Rat system also has a 15% cut-off for getting delegates under the proportionality rules. IOW, a cut-off for political viability.
Not one of the more conservative candidates consistently met even that pathetic standard of 15% of the vote to get a couple of delegates here and there. So, even under that system, or something like it, clearly conservatives failed to vote for a more conservative candidate in sufficient numbers.

I think having big Republican primaries in blue states favors moderate candidate and in some cases an unelectable candidate becomes the nominee. I think McCain will lose where another candidate might have been able to win. Granted, historically, this would be a difficult year for any Republican candidate.
I will add my tag line to my post. Thanks for your insight. I will be exploring the potential for a grass roots candidate to oust the soon to be elected President.
I might be paranoid, but McCain might really be out to get us.
