February 22, 2008, 23:17 Tensions rise as Serbs push into Kosovo http://www.russiatoday.ru/news/news/21256

Kosovo border police have reported Serb tanks are taking positions near the Kosovo-Serb border. On Friday, police in Kosovo's northern city of Mitrovica have been holding off thousands of Serb protesters who were trying to cross the bridge dividing the Serb and ethnic Albanian sides of the city.

Hundreds of ethnic Serbs have arrived in the province to show their support for the Serbian minority living there. Kosovo authorities have already introduced restrictions preventing Serbs from entering the region.

Police have been given the green light to use tough measures to keep any rioting under control but apart from isolated incidents, the rally passed off peacefully.

Authorities feared a repeat of the overnight violence that gripped the Serbian capital Belgrade, killing one and injuring around 130. The violence has also resulted in damage to a number of Western embassies.

In Belgrade President Boris Tadic has called on the Council for National Security to discuss the situation in the country.

He said there was no excuse for violence and nothing could justify Thursday's unrest.

Meanwhile, Russia's envoy to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, says alliance officials in Kosovo should not overstep the bounds of their mandate.

“Some high-ranking NATO officials are giving orders that are obviously inconsistent with their authority, such as an order to block the border in northern Kosovo, where mostly ethnic Serbs live. This means that Kosovo Serbs are cut off from Serbia itself. If the Albanians decide to break away, that doesn't mean they can seize someone else's property and citizens.

The thing is that the Serbs in Kosovo, who were previously citizens of their country, suddenly do not know who they are - Kosovars or inhabitants of an independent territory. Besides, we're disturbed by reports, although it needs checking, that some NATO military chiefs are considering whether to stop representatives of the Serbian administration entering Kosovo. This is not in their mandate. For us, the main thing is that NATO shouldn't intervene in politics, but stick to a neutral position on Kosovo, as it always did,” Rogozin said.

Right! Guess NATO got what they wanted too!

Here’s what NATO wanted in their Appendix B of the Rambouillet Agreement. I’m making the assumption that you haven’t read it going by your posts.

“3. The Parties recognize the need for expeditious departure and entry procedures for NATO personnel. Such personnel shall be exempt from passport and visa regulations and the registration requirements applicable to aliens. At all entry and exit points to/from the FRY, NATO personnel shall be permitted to enter/exit the FRY on production of a national identification (ID) card. NATO personnel shall carry identification which they may be requested to produce for the authorities in the FRY, but operations, training, and movement shall not be allowed to be impeded or delayed by such requests.

4. NATO military personnel shall normally wear uniforms, and NATO personnel may possess and carry arms if authorized to do so by their orders. The Parties shall accept as valid, without tax or fee, drivers, licenses and permits issued to NATO personnel by their respective national authorities.

5. NATO shall be permitted to display the NATO flag and/or national flags of its constituent national elements/units on any NATO uniform, means of transport, or facility.

6. a. NATO shall be immune from all legal process, whether civil, administrative, or criminal.

b. NATO personnel, under all circumstances and at all times, shall be immune from the Parties, jurisdiction in respect of any civil, administrative, criminal, or disciplinary offenses which may be committed by them in the FRY. The Parties shall assist States participating in the operation in the exercise of their jurisdiction over their own nationals.

c. Notwithstanding the above, and with the NATO Commander’s express agreement in each case, the authorities in the FRY may exceptionally exercise jurisdiction in such matters, but only in respect of Contractor personnel who are not subject to the jurisdiction of their nation of citizenship.

7. NATO personnel shall be immune from any form of arrest, investigation, or detention by the authorities in the FRY. NATO personnel erroneously arrested or detained shall immediately be turned over to NATO authorities.

8. NATO personnel shall enjoy, together with their vehicles, vessels, aircraft, and equipment, free and unrestricted passage and unimpeded access throughout the FRY including associated airspace and territorial waters. This shall include, but not be limited to, the right of bivouac, maneuver, billet, and utilization of any areas or facilities as required for support, training, and operations.

9. NATO shall be exempt from duties, taxes, and other charges and inspections and custom regulations including providing inventories or other routine customs documentation, for personnel, vehicles, vessels, aircraft, equipment, supplies, and provisions entering, exiting, or transiting the territory of the FRY in support of the Operation.

10. The authorities in the FRY shall facilitate, on a priority basis and with all appropriate means, all movement of personnel, vehicles, vessels, aircraft, equipment, or supplies, through or in the airspace, ports, airports, or roads used. No charges may be assessed against NATO for air navigation, landing, or takeoff of aircraft, whether government-owned or chartered. Similarly, no duties, dues, tolls or charges may be assessed against NATO ships, whether government-owned or chartered, for the mere entry and exit of ports. Vehicles, vessels, and aircraft used in support of the operation shall not be subject to licensing or registration requirements, nor commercial insurance.

11. NATO is granted the use of airports, roads, rails, and ports without payment of fees, duties, dues, tolls, or charges occasioned by mere use. NATO shall not, however, claim exemption from reasonable charges for specific services requested and received, but operations/movement and access shall not be allowed to be impeded pending payment for such services.

12. NATO personnel shall be exempt from taxation by the Parties on the salaries and emoluments received from NATO and on any income received from outside the FRY.

13. NATO personnel and their tangible moveable property imported into, acquired in, or exported from the FRY shall be exempt from all duties, taxes, and other charges and inspections and custom regulations.

14. NATO shall be allowed to import and to export, free of duty, taxes and other charges, such equipment, provisions, and supplies as NATO shall require for the operation, provided such goods are for the official use of NATO or for sale to NATO personnel. Goods sold shall be solely for the use of NATO personnel and not transferable to unauthorized persons.

15. The Parties recognize that the use of communications channels is necessary for the Operation. NATO shall be allowed to operate its own internal mail services. The Parties shall, upon simple request, grant all telecommunications services, including broadcast services, needed for the Operation, as determined by NATO. This shall include the right to utilize such means and services as required to assure full ability to communicate, and the right to use all of the electromagnetic spectrum for this purpose, free of cost. In implementing this right, NATO shall make every reasonable effort to coordinate with and take into account the needs and requirements of appropriate authorities in the FRY.

16. The Parties shall provide, free of cost, such public facilities as NATO shall require to prepare for and execute the Operation. The Parties shall assist NATO in obtaining, at the lowest rate, the necessary utilities, such as electricity, water, gas and other resources, as NATO shall require for the Operation.

17. NATO and NATO personnel shall be immune from claims of any sort which arise out of activities in pursuance of the operation; however, NATO will entertain claims on an ex gratia basis.

18. NATO shall be allowed to contract directly for the acquisition of goods, services, and construction from any source within and outside the FRY. Such contracts, goods, services, and construction shall not be subject to the payment of duties, taxes, or other charges. NATO may also carry out construction works with their own personnel.

19. Commercial undertakings operating in the FRY only in the service of NATO shall be exempt from local laws and regulations with respect to the terms and conditions of their employment and licensing and registration of employees, businesses, and corporations.

20. NATO may hire local personnel who on an individual basis shall remain subject to local laws and regulations with the exception of labor/employment laws. However, local personnel hired by NATO shall:

a. be immune from legal process in respect of words spoken or written and all acts performed by them in their official capacity;

b. be immune from national services and/or national military service obligations;

c. be subject only to employment terms and conditions established by NATO; and

d. be exempt from taxation on the salaries and emoluments paid to them by NATO.”

Now go and read the UN Resolution 1244 that was signed by all parties (with the assistance of Russia) and tell me who backed down...

Before you go calling people names because they have a different (& knowledgable) view than what you do have a good long look at yourself in the mirror. I bet you are one of these people that until yesterday couldn’t point out Kosovo on a map, let alone Europe!

Looks like the only obstacle to creating a large unified Muslim state is Montenegro. Could this be the next target for the UN and a supremely misguided NATO?

One would think the NWO wouldn't support balkanization -- a process that creates more nations, which would appear to be at odds with the NWO's plan to eliminate borders.

Depends upon which vision of a NWO you are referring to. There are at least three major alignments and about a 100 minor variations within each major alignment. Pick your poison.

“a process that creates more nations, which would appear to be at odds with the NWO’s plan to eliminate borders.”

First the NWO/FourthReich must breakup the strong nationalist nations witha solid Christian cultures before they break down the borders.
The muslim/marxistFeminists onslaught on the West is the WafferSS for the NWO/FourthReich.
Incrementalism is the gameplan until it becomes necessary to do an endrun or dash for the Capital.

By increasing instability, the call for a massive political power to “solve” the crisis intensifies.

Wow...that is exactly what is happening.

An iranian refugee (Bahai) who lived in germany told me that Germans and many European liberal “Christisns” suffer from insanity.

Why I asked. Because they cannot understand the dangers of Islam in Europe. They treat Islamics better in Europe than in their own lands...and are hated more for it. And she could not believe how Christians were made fun of in Germany as well.

She actually said that she was more afraid at times in Germany than in Iran..where of course Bahais have been brutally treated.

It seems to be part of a greater strategy.

“It seems to be part of a greater strategy.”

Just so. try the link below for a good story on a possible outcome and “strategy” of the NWO/FourthReich.
As much trouble and threat that Islam poses, the NWO/FourthReich is far more dangerous as hard to fathom at that may seem.
We are in a three way fight and that makes it difficult to discern which enemy is the most immediate danger.

GWB and Rice are naive if they think that will happen.

We are on the wrong side on this issue.

They don’t want to say Christian and Muslim. The “ethnic Albanians” are mostly the descendants of Macedonian converts to Islam.

These were “converts” of the “your knees on the rug or your head off your neck” variety courtesy of the Ottoman Empire.

"Rice said it is time for Serbs to accept that Kosovo is no longer theirs. She also suggested that it also time to drop centuries of grievance and sentimentality in the Balkans.’" Lets see if I have this right.. if enough Mexicans move to California or Nevada they can declare that they are a sovereign Nation and we will accede to their demands. That seems to be about what has happened in Kosovo or am I missing something here?

Well then you would have to explain your linguistic/social/historic/etc version of what constitutes an ethnic “macedonian”...certainly it is not those who live in FYROM.

Albanians today are the “Arvanites” who converted to the dark side for the most part. They are mainly of slavic origins like those who live in present day FYROM. One branch of the Arvanites is mainly Greek having assimilated over the past hundreds of years and behaved honorably in many respects...I myself have some “Arvanitiko” blood proudly claiming some of the great Turk killers of the revolution.

As for FYROM - “Macedonia” is simply a figment of Tito’s imagination made real. They are descendants of 6th century slavic tribes and really need to create their own symbols instead of appropriating others’ like Alexander the great and the Vergina crown etc. They also need to stop making maps that include half of northern Greece...that is very naughty and plays into the hands of the globalists and jihadis.

I consider any Orthodox Christian Macedonian Albanian whatever to be my ally. That sentiment should be the driving force in the negotiations. FYROMIANS are not playing by the rules on this one.

Serbia has the right to maintain it's national sovereignty. The EU has a record of impotence and will not act. The question now is, whether the US under the disorganized, dispirited and bedraggled remains of the Bush doctrine, perverted by the criminal element that controls the State Department, will have the gonads to do anything. I predict no, and the point goes to Russia on a broken serve, because George Bush is a loser who has lost his nerve.

Not a chance. They didn't have the balls eight or ten years ago, and they won't do it now.

Bush has troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are already spread thin. He cannot afford to get involved in a third war. Instead of supporting the Serbs who try to fight off terrorists same as we are, Bush appears more concerned with covering up Clinton's blunder.

Rice's comments show how ignorant and bigoted she is. BTW, McCain is even more fanatically for amnesty in this country and against than Bush. Outrageous that our government takes a position against Christians who are trying to defend themselves against Muslim terrorists. Unlike Muslim extremists, Serbs have never posed a danger to us and have never harmed us.
