Temperature Monitors Report Global Cooling
The Daily Tech, Drudgereport ^

A twelve-month long drop in world temperatures erases global warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on. No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest temperature change every recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Poor Algore...that'll leave a mark!
Not to mention the considerable shrinkage of his photo-shopped "package" due to the cold snap.

I'm so confused.

Will people stop posting facts.

Just give me some old time religion and a little Johnnie Walker Black and I'll muddle my way through this cold wave errr, heat wave errr, moderate wave, errr...

I think I'll have one more JWB, take a nap, eat dinner, and watch the hil/mooselimb show.

Can't wait to see chrissy slobber on his tie and give osamaobama a verbal, virtual lewinsky {and then puke as he gets a "thrill up his leg"}.

LOL. I paged down quickly before I posted just to be sure. I was a little concerned that someone would get it out before I could hit the button. I hate being johnny-come-lately.

What do you suppose the chances are of this being on the evening news tonight?

Dr. Heidi Cullen is already set to do an about-face at the Weather Channel and have some "Breaking Climate News" tonight at 6:00 and 10:00.

Blame it on global warming.

The global warming melts the icecaps that pour freezing water into the oceans that in turn lower the temperature of the earth.

You can blame all the worlds problems on global warming and Bush.

Global warming? Global cooling? That’s so 2007.

It’s now Global Climate Change. Get with the program. :)

(wonder who they’ll blame when the sun goes red dwarf)

Mr. algore probably doesn’t realize that CO2 is what is used to make

I wish the McCain campaign would take a look at this data. He could actually GAIN some common sense support from conservatives.

All the leftists running(McCain, the two Rats) will completely ignore this data. McCain has less scientific training than Al Gore. McCain is an idiot and he and his stupid team are socialists at heart. It will be a cold day in Hell before government leaders acknowledge the truth. They lust after control.

You are kidding? That little stalinist wouldn't let the truth get into the way of her agenda. I haven't looked at the W.C. since that leftist made her disgusting statements about pulling certifications.

If the global warming folks are right about CO2’s effect on temperatures, we better start building coal-fired power plants like crazy to mitigate this new ice age.

Poor Mother Nature. She knew this was coming and began trying to store up some extra heat to offset the arrival of the cooling, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO we humans just had to step in try to take over the care and feeding of the atmosphere and the running of Earth.

Remember the old margarine commercial with the punch line “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature!”?

Thanks, Gorge, for the mandatory POS spiral fluorescent bulbs that we Must Buy in 2010.

BTW, what shall I do with my dimmer switches, Uncle Sugar? Also, this will change the look of all shades of paint. What a wonderful revenue generator for lighting companies (hello GE) and paint manufacturers.

Oh, what about the bio-hazard caused by the spent bulbs? Have you read what must be done to clean up a broken “Big Government” bulb?

Again, Thanks Gorge!
