You know, I don't get down to Orlando very often, but the last time I was there I spoke with a lot of young and middle-aged folk, and it seemed to me that crime was a very big issue for them.

I live in a zero-crime little New England town, so when I travel to a place where crime avoidance is a big part of the local lifestyle, I tend to notice.

I would think for retirees, crime would be a big issue.

If you live in Orlando, you probably need to learn Spanish - the Spanish signs in the stores are as big as the English ones. If you move away from the resort areas, the stores can have a dingy, dirty look. I was also warned by several people to not visit certain areas of town. It just wasn’t safe.
