When did Hawaii become a state? wasn’t Obamamama born there?
Panama was not a US territory but anyone born to American citizen parents, even on Mars, is a natural born citizen.
Here’s an elaboration of the argument:
http://muddythoughts.blogspot.com/2008/02/panmanchurian-candidate-mccain.html
Executive Summary:
1. The 14th Amendment and matching regulations limit citizenship to natural born and naturalized.
2. John McCain was born in 1936 in the Canal Zone to citizen parents.
3. 8 USC 1403(a) declares naturalized citizenship in 1952 on persons born in the Canal Zone to citizen parents.
4. Therefore 8 USC 1403(a) applies to John McCain at age 16.
5. Therefore John McCain is a naturalized citizen.
6. The Canal Zone was not part of the United States.
7. Therefore John McCain was not born in the United States.
8. Therefore John McCain is a citizen not born in the United States.
9. Therefore John McCain is not a natural born citizen.
10. Article II of the Constitution states to be President a person must be a natural born citizen.
11. THEREFORE John McCain is not eligible to be President of the United States under Article II of the Constitution.
12. THEREFORE John McCain should be disqualified from running for President and should be decertified and removed from all present and future Presidential ballots, and his past results should be disallowed.
NOTE: That’s a cut-and-paste from the URL cited above. It is NOT my argument.
He is a natural born US Citizen, even if he was born outside of the US.His Parents where US citizens and stationed in Panama on a US base.
He also lived in the US for more then the required 14 years,to be eligible to run for President.
My son was born in Germany, but is a US citizen, since his Dad was in the Military.
I on the other hand could never run for President since I am not a natural born US citizen.
Whether it would be any remnant of opposition in the Republican Party, or some very stupid Democrats, those opposing Mr. McCain on this basis would be in a position of saying that someone:
- born of a US military officer
- on a US military base
- in a territory leased in perpetuity by the US
- of a US mother
- who grew up to join the US military
- serve in war for the United States
- who was taken prisoner and tortured by enemies of the United States
is not a natural-born American.
It would be tantamount to questioning the Americanism and patriotism of Mr. McCain.
And that would be a foolhardy thing for any opponent.
This story is assinine. Members of the military and their spouses stationed around the world give birth to AMERICAN citizens. Period. TD - USAF
Classic drive by tactic: throw mud on the wall and see how much sticks and keep on driving.......
Looks like the drive-by media is at it again. ABC’s GMA had a little blurt about this NYT’s hit piece earlier today. I don’t know if they followed it up and discussed it though.
"I see little people. Talking to me. Like they make a difference.
They only see what they want to see.
They don't know they're little."
Only in this era of reality TV and Paris Hilton could we get to the point that a child born on American soil to parents serving at high rank in the American military could have his citizenship questioned, while every illegal alien can sneak into the country, break a bunch of laws, and have citizenship given to them.
This article is from the “International Herald Tribune”.
{thread hijack warning}
But yet they want to consider anchor babies US citizens.
I wonder if the Times thinks that McCain should be sent back to Panama where he came from.
Oh no wait, Panamanians, and Arabs, and Mexicans, and everybody else are entitled to American Rights under our “Living Constitution.”
