Since you don't know the difference between hitting and spanking, perhaps it's a good thing you didn't. Some kids don't need much discipline, some kids do, and it cannot be presumed that what works for one will work for all.

Let me get this straight. Back when everybody was spanked, we had an average family size of something like four children. Now, in the post-Spock “time out” era, we do not even replacement level birth rates (our population growth is only above replacement due to immigration). And spanking causes “sexual problems”?

Speaking of spanking and sexual problems, at the rest home I preach at on Sundays (sort of a mix of traditional rest home with a halfway house), there is a late 20-something guy who desperately, DESPERATELY wants to be a girl. I mean, he’s trying to get the operation, already has official state ID cards with his new female name, the whole bit. Guy is totally messed in the head, even beyond your typical homosexual.

Guess what? His dad (who also lives there, for some of the same non-sex related reasons as his son) told me one time that they never spanked this kid once - thought it was “child abuse”. I was like, “There ya go.”

I was spanked (and deserved it I might add), but certainly never abused, and my wife and I had five kids. Two of those children and their spouses have now produced a total of six grandkids. I expect the other three, in their turn will provide us with quite a few more of those darling grandchildren.

So, I personally refute this rediculous contention.
