Don’t tax people just for the opportunity to burn our food supply.

I think he’s right...
But it’s going to be a long time before they actually can make it economical.
They need to focus on developing an algae strain that can produce the necessary lipids at low cost.

After so many miscues by Jorge, this one is really bad!
Bio fuels are not the answer! Bio fuels are a negative source of energy; it takes more energy to produce and distribute a gallon of it than it can possibly release!

Well, I don’t have a problem with it if that’s the case, and if there aren’t subsidies. My beef is with Ethanol mainly.

Now that he’s driven up the price of everything related to corn, he’s going to drive up the price of everything related to vegetable oil with nothing positive to show for it.

Diesel can be made from COAL, and used to be (Kerosene used to be called Coal Oil). We have more COAL than anything else, and enough to make our diesel economy purr!....I cannot understand why the Coal mining industry and the MINING UNIONS are not beating down the doors of every Congressman trying to get this done!..............

Soybeans are definitely food.
Vegetable oil is made from food.
Any time you displace one crop with another, you decrease the quantity of the displaced crop and increase it's price.
It is a really, really, really bad, arrogant and contemptuous thing for a society to burn food when there are parts of the world where people are starving.
