What white folks don’t realize is that this grievance mongering hate-America nonsense is so common in the African American community that people don’t really see it for what it is. It is like one is trying to outdo the other, and it is treated as such.
So if you have a small grievance or you want to be anti-establishment, you say something like “G_d d*mn America” and people just say MMMM HMMM, without evaluating that statement objectively. It is only slightly more outrageous that what somebody else said last week, so you are not seen as being an idiot.
Now a bunch of outsiders are looking at these sermons and taking them in isolation. In this context, they are outrageous, and if you asked 95% of the people who were clapping and saying “Amen” at the time to consider them objectively, they would probably agree. But at the time, it only seems mildly outside-the-lines. People are so used to this sort of thing, it’s just “blah, blah, blah”.
Now, I think this particular tendency of African American society is wrong and ultimately holds the people back, on the whole, but it must be considered when evaluating this sort of statement.
Brilliant post.....
Please. Do not speak down to us. We understand very well. Liberation Theology is a bastarization of Christianity. Social Justice is a veil of ignorance. Marxism and Christianity is like oil and water. Add a little racism and hate and you have Churches like this one. I am very aware of this theology. It is a lie.
Especially if a pastor or church claims the pastor to be "anointed".
