Mark Steyn: So much for the 'post-racial' candidate
OC Register ^ | 22 March 08 | MARK STEYN

Posted on 03/22/2008 4:22:37 AM PDT by Laverne

"I'm sure," said Barack Obama in that sonorous baritone that makes his drive-thru order for a Big Mac, fries and strawberry shake sound profound, "many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed." Well, yes. But not many of us have heard remarks from our pastors, priests or rabbis that are stark, staring, out-of-his-tree, flown-the-coop nuts. ...snip...

It is Barack Obama's choice to entrust his daughters to the spiritual care of such a man for their entire lives, but in Philadelphia the senator attempted to universalize his peculiar judgment – to claim that, given America's history, it would be unreasonable to expect black men of Jeremiah Wright's generation not to peddle hateful and damaging lunacies. Isn't that – what's the word? – racist? So much for the post-racial candidate.

I’m at about 90% and I will gladly take it.

That flu darn near wiped me out, heck, I lost 10 lbs, and I am a guy who really does not have 10 lbs to lose!

Have a great weekend, I know I am looking forward to it.

Cheers,

knewshound

There is another excellent and bitterly humorous Steyn piece on the same site and on the same subject, but I don’t know how to post it.

Ordinarily I would agree with you. All things equal the msm just might be able to swing an election for their guy on the left.

Problem is there are about 30 % liberals and about the same on conservatives in the Nat. voting mix.

The rest are middle of the roaders. With a true conservative candidate it's a dog fight for us to win. But with a RINO candidate who competes to give Ted Kennedy a BJ with Boma it's really no contest, we win every time.

Sad way to win but we have no choice. Like Rush says our candidate was chosen for us. Rush claims the drivers by chose our candidate. I claim it was just Crist and his inflated ego.

Obama will have more delegates than Clinton but she will get the superdelegates and be the nominee.

The way I see the choice the super delegates have it is:

1. Vote for Obama, lose the general, but maintain the black vote for the party for a generation and begin purging the party of the Arkansas grifters they let take it over 15 years ago.

2. Vote for Clinton, lose the general election and lose some fraction of the black vote for the future meaning the party loses several up coming national elections.

This seems like an easy choice to me.

He is toast.

He certainly is in the general election. He will likely lead in delegates and popular vote after the primaries. To me the interesting quesion is at what point operation chaos reqiures a switch from voting Clinton to voting Obama, we don't want him to lose NC, I don't think

We know that the frauds of the MSM are going to do all they can to protect and nurture Obama’s candidacy through November.

We know that it is still highly likely that Obama will hang on to win his party’s nomination since the only way Shrillary can overturn his delegate count is with enough Superdelegates which would tear that party apart.

The only way to stop Obama, therefore, is with the use of the blogosphere plus a viral email campaign that lets tens of millions of Americans know what Obama is really about. We need blogs to get all over this in a sustained way.

We also need a well-crafted persuasive email, no ranting or anger from our side, no “preaching to the converted” — just an objective, factual “here is what the media does not want you to know” kind of approach...... subject line must be calm not hysterical so people want to open it......top few lines of the email must contain the most essential info that Obama has wrapped himself in the ideological embrace of the most rabid racist so-called “minister” ever seen near the top of a major party ticket in our lifetimes.

Include links to “Reverend” Wright’s videos but the email itself must contain the essential info, briefly and calmly expresses (no caps or screaming exclamation points). Link the videos and blog sites that have the best links and explanations, but most people won’t click on the links so the email itself must contain the essential info.

We need tens of millions of people, especially Independents and “Reagan Democrats” — to learn before November what Obama really represents and what this b.s. “Black Liberation Theology” represented by Wright and Cone really is.

Anyone feel up to creating the ideal email missive that can take on the e-world with viral campaign of truth and facts??

Nothing funny about this article by Steyn, it is in your face absolute truth.

I really fear for our country if Obama is elected POTUS with a Democrat controlled Congress.

one-time ping, hope y’all don’t mind — I urge folks to consider my #107 above in relation to Mark Steyn’s outstanding column and also Jeff Head’s excellent overview of “Black Liberation Theology”

THE TRUTH ABOUT BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND TRINITY CHURCH

http://www.jeffhead.com/blacklibtheology.htm

It’s almost unfortunate that this is coming out before the Democrat Convention since Hillary could still conceivably find a way to push Obama aside, but we must find a way to make sure tens of millions of Americans will get to see through the b.s. of Obama’s dishonest moderate facade before November.

I hope you’re not implying Al Gore. He’s the only possible candidate who frightens me more than Obama. Talk about messianic fraud!

What I heard in Obama’s speech was that we should not judge his good reverand by the content of his character but by the color of his skin. He turned MLK’s dream speech on its head; and yet, the media swoons over his delivery and ignores the content of his speeches.

GREAT POINT!!!!!!!

You cannot embrace a call for divisiveness and hate within your house and still say you want to unify and love all those within it. That's not transcending race.

I'm waiting for some geek researcher on the Clinton payroll to calculate the "net present value" of popular votes and delegate assignments prior to the Wright scandal, and then claim that Hillary is really winning if you discount the early victories.

How come nobody is conducting polls in states that have already voted; "Knowing what you know today, would you have voted for Obama last month?" Might be interesting to read the results of that survey.

Al Gore is still quite possible as Obama’s VP pick. He’s the only old white guy who will work.

(The other person angling for the job is Nancy Pelosi.)

Hey, don't give Shrillary's minions such a good idea - this WILL be their best case to make to the Superdelegates if they can obtain the right data (whether from real surveys or by making it up):

It is time now to rethink the 40 year old policies of LBJ's Great Society

It's past time, however you are correct.

Steyn’s mastery continues....

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this line:

“for, if this truly were a country whose government invented a virus to kill black people, why would they leave him walking around to expose the truth?”

Mark Steyn asks if Wright really believes that the US gov't invented HIV and deliberately spread it among the Black population. The answer is no, he doesn't believe that or much of the other hateful blather that he puts out as sermons. In an article, Barack Obama on meeting Mr. Wright. it is revealed that Jeremiah Wright sees his politics (and that's what it is politics, not religion)as a means of uniting the disparate groups withing the Black community, "smoothing things over", as Wright put it, between the upwardly mobile, educated Blacks, the former gang bangers, the former Muslims, and the young single moms. Wright thinks that he's uniting them behind a cause, to move beyond the passive prayers for salvation, to activism to help the Black community move beyond the white oppression. Barack knew, Wright told him, and handed a brochure with the tenets of Black Liberation, before Barack joined Wright in his "struggle". Read everything that Obama has said about Christianity, and notice the lawyerly couching of terms. There is not very much that could not be said about the Jesus of Islam in most of Obama's speech. I do think that he said that he believed that Jesus was the son of God, but only recently, when his religious affiliations started to come under fire.
