Obama Woke The Sleeping Giant
America Talks ^ | 3/22/08 | David Zublick

Posted on 03/22/2008 7:38:34 AM PDT by AmericaTalks

Barack Obama has based his entire candidacy on one thing. He wanted to be the first African-American to run for the presidency keeping the issue of race as far into the background as possible. And he almost succeeded in pulling the wool over America's eyes.

His good looks and charismatic appeal made many people view him as the next JFK. Some even thought of him as the second coming of Jesus Christ. We've all seen the pictures of him wowing the crowds with his oratories, women swooning, men cheering. And these were people of all races and creeds, desperate for a candidate who could transcend the barrier of hatred that has so divided this country over its entire history. Even those of us who are conservative, and who despise the misguided vision of the left had to admit that here was a man who broke through the walls that have kept our nation disunited for some 200-plus years.

But wait.

Were we really that far apart? What I mean is...the wounds of racial hatred have, over the past 20 years or so, been healing. The average American, black and white, doesn't harbor any ill will over those of other ethnicities. Most of us get along quite well. We didn't need a guy like Obama to remind us that race should not be an issue. The fact that he was embraced by the voting public should have been an indication that America was ready to put bigotry behind it and accept a black candidate.

And then Obama blew it.

We suddenly find out that we knew absolutely nothing about this guy called Barack Obama. For twenty years, he attended a church in Chicago pastored by a racist whose hatred for America, and especially whites in America, is blatant. Reverend Jeremiah Wright believes our nation was responsible for the attacks of 9-11, and that aids was created to exterminate the black race.

Obama then gave a speech in which acted as an apologist for Wright and refused to disown him. In fact, he continues to embrace him.

That's when the sleeping giant was awakened. The campaign that was supposed to eliminate color suddenly found itself embroiled in controversy. Obama pulled the scabs from the healing wounds of racial divide and now the issue of race is on the front burner.

Will Obama's candidacy be hurt by this? Most certainly. Will his continued association with this church be scrutinized? Absolutely. Will Hillary Clinton and John McCain benefit? You bet.

Will America suffer?

It already has.

THANK YOU!!!

WHAT is all of this "his good looks" crap???

I recognize that beauty is in the proverbial eyes...and all of that...but this guy just ISN'T!!! I'm so sick of hearing that he is.

Maybe if we look at the stereotype being hoisted on us by magazines, this metro-man is passable; but he just IS NOT PLEASING TO THE EYE!

Is there a chance this will kill his chances of getting the Dem nomination?

What I find amazing is that everybody says he has this wrapped up when the truth is he will never get enough delegates to get to 2024 before the convention.

Therefore BILLARY will not get out or let this die because she can easily turn this around if he comes into the convention unelectable and trailing McCain badly in the polls.

The VRWC is just getting warmed up, Obama is a Marxist with ties to terrorists, and his wife is not first lady material either.

McCain will have no trouble beating either of them.

While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It’s about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect.”

Most people I know are too busy with their lives ,family , work and creativity to really give 2 flying craps about anyone’s race. If you’re a knuckle head we call you one , black or white. If you’re a good guy or gal them we like you . I think racism is overrated.

EXCLUSIVE - Obama’s Nation of Islam Staffers, Edward Said & “Inflexible Jews” Causing Mid-East Conflict: An Obama Insider Reveals the Real Barack

Printer Friendly

By Debbie Schlussel - Copyright 2008

**** EXCLUSIVE: Must Cite Debbie Schlussel and/or DebbieSchlussel.com ****

Responding to criticism by Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen, Barack Obama declared his strong opposition to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan:

I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan.

Obama also went on to condemn his Church’s award to Farrakhan and his minister’s tight relationship with him.

But a former Obama insider says that Obama’s sudden aversion to NOI and Farrakhan is belied by the fact that Obama employed and continues to employ several Farrakhan acolytes in high positions on his Illinois and U.S. Senate campaign and office staffs. I have verified that this person—who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity—held a key position in the Obama campaign. The insider was so close to Senator Obama that they frequently personally discussed and exchanged direct e-mail messages on campaign and policy matters. This person is not connected with the Clintons and is not a disgruntled employee.

The insider says he frequently objected to Mr. Obama’s placement of Cynthia K. Miller, a member of the Nation of Islam, as the Treasurer of his U.S. Senate campaign. When I contacted Miller, now a Chicago real estate agent, to verify whether she was a member of the Nation of Islam and whether she shared Louis Farrakhan’s bigoted views about Jews, she responded, “None of your business! Where are you going with this?” She said her resignation as Obama’s treasurer had nothing to do with her Nation of Islam ties. Then, she hung up.

The Obama insider says he also objected to Obama’s involvement with Jennifer Mason, whom he says is also a member of the Nation of Islam. Mason is Obama’s Director of Constituent Services in his U.S. Senate office and is also in charge of selecting Obama’s Senate interns. She did not respond to repeated calls for comment.

But it’s not just that he employed these individuals in positions of power in his office, it’s that when the former associate raised objections, he says Mr. Obama’s position was that he saw nothing wrong with the Nation of Islam and didn’t think it was a problem. If true—and the fact that Ms. Mason still holds her prominent Obama Senate staff position bears that out—Obama’s condemnation of Farrakhan, this month, is phony.

But the insider says there is more to it than that. Obama’s Illinois State Senate district consisted of prime Nation of Islam territory, including Hyde Park, home to Farrakhan’s mansion. It is not possible, Illinois politicos say, to win that district without the blessing of the NOI leader. NOI members, including consultant Shakir Muhammad, held important roles in the Obama state senate campaign.

How many Nation of Islam members will work in an Obama White House?

Then, there is the issue of Israel. When Obama first ran for the U.S. Senate, he gave militant responses to the Chicago Jewish News about Israel. Obama denounced Israel’s fence—which he called a “wall” and “barrier to peace”—to keep out terrorists and favored working with Yasser Arafat. When members of the Chicago Jewish community circulated his responses, Obama said that the answers were not his positions, but the work of a low-level intern. He submitted new answers. But that was a lie, the insider says. In fact, they were the work of Obama’s Policy Director, Audra Wilson. Moreover, Obama told the insider that he blamed the Mideast conflict on the Jews:

Barack told me that he felt that Jewish community was too inflexible, and that was why the situation in the Mideast could not be resolved.

This is the man who says in a new campaign ad that Hillary Clinton will say anything but change nothing. Barack Obama will say anything, but change his answers.

Palestinian activist and Islamist Ali Abunimah, who was a close friend of Obama’s, attended an Arab fundraiser at which the late Edward Said—plagiarist, fabricator, and prominent PLO/Arafat advisor—was the keynote speaker, and at which the Obamas were notably in attendance. Pictures on Abunimah’s site, posted above, show Obama and wife, Michelle, sitting next to Said and engaging in conversation. Abunimah, in a must-read article, says the Senator has since “changed” his proclaimed views from those he expressed privately, in order to get Jewish donors and votes.

And he has succeeded in spades. Lee Rosenberg a top Illinois official of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the pro-Israel lobby is a big Obama donor. Ditto for former national AIPAC official Bob Asher. And Penny Pritzker of the pro-Israel family that owns Hyatt hotels. And there are so many others who have bought in to Obama’s newly pro-Israel views. The insider says Obama pulled the wool over their eyes.

Then, there’s Bettylu Saltzman, also Jewish and one of Obama’s first major supporters and donors. She is a major Peace Now devotee, officer of the far-left, pro-capitulation New Israel Fund, and wrote a letter to a Chicago newspaper praising Jimmy Carter’s book calling Israel an apartheid state. The Obama insider says she has Obama’s ear on the Mideast and “will be a major policy person for Barack. Very dangerous.”

The insider points to Mr. Obama’s changing views in Iraq as another area of uncertainty. He has highlighted his opposition to the War in Iraq. The insider says there is strong speculation that Obama attempted to get his crony, Federal Indictee Tony Rezko, a contract to build a nuclear power plant in the new Iraq. Rezko, a Syrian Arab who helped Obama in a deal to purchase his home, was in a partnership with NOI founder Elijah Muhammad’s son, Jabir.

Barack Obama can denounce Louis Farrakhan ad infinitum. But with supporters like Ms. Saltzman, high-level staffers who are Nation of Islam members, and constantly morphing views on Israel merely for donor appeal, a Barack Obama White House bodes poorly both for Israel and—far more important—for America.

I have little confidence in the American voter letting a “little” thing like this “CHANGE” their minds. Will we have two Manchurian candidates in November to decide between: McCant(R) and Obomba(D)?
My confidence in this country has reached a low point.

Posted by: TheOmegaMan [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 30, 2008 11:11 AM

Obama’s Minister is Rev. Wright. Is it true that their church made Louis Farrakhan their “Man Of the Year” last year??

How much of this story of Obama and his Muslim connections make the Major News Post?

Is giving away the Money that he got from Rezko really going to clear Obama from him?

Posted by: john1222 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 30, 2008 11:42 AM

Oh, so Blacks who join the NOI can still have their White names( That they claim they hate, and become muslim to get rid of it to aquire a more “black” one,so has gone the propaganda that’s been around for decades now )?

Presumably, this is a new plan( Since most Whites would rightfully never hire someone with the typical Black name of the last 10-20 years, like LaShiqua or Kwaaneesha ),so that they’ll get hired in more mainstream(read: White America) jobs, to be able to infiltrate and subvert/destroy from the inside. In which case, Whites have even more evidence and legitemate, rock solid reasons to be paranoid and suspicious of Blacks than ever before.

Posted by: OldSchoolW [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 30, 2008 11:55 AM

Husseins views are obviously that of a noi follower. Only he’s like a wolf insheeps clothing. Pandering to whites on David Letterman, who is likewise pandering to blacks by pandering to Hussein. As far as the fence being called a wall, they need a wall to protect them from the murderers that strap bombs to their kids. Kind of like the wall we need on our southern border to protect us from the illegals. Mcain taking Florida is just another sign of how dumbed down our country has become. How either of these incompetent morons can even be in a campaign at this point is beyond wrong. Don’t believe Billary can get up in front of crowds after the way her hubby played her in front of the whole world. I’ve said it before, WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!

Manchurian candidate....a shady character named Rezco....mysterious “insiders”...undercover NOI operatives in the Obama campaign....a presidential candidate from a “radicalized” Church...Wow. I see Jews aren’t the only ones who are the subjects of some rather interesting conspiracy theories. Now Black folks are too, especially ones who have the audacity to try to be President of the United States. That’s a step up....I guess. Welcome to the big leagues, Sen. Obama.

This is shoddy writing, and just more guilt-by-association nonsense that’s become your stock in trade, Debbie.

You have an unnamed, supposed insider who provides nothing but speculation. You’ve confirmed nothing here with official sources.

You’ve chosen to be a smear merchant, okay. But provide some real hard facts, for once, or you’ll continue to embarass yourself on a daily basis.

[A: IF YOU LIE AND INSULT ME AND MY WORK AGAIN, YOU WILL BE BANNED. I SPENT A LONG TIME WORKING ON THIS ARTICLE AND TRYING TO GET OBAMA’S PEOPLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. THEY WOULD NOT. GEE, I WONDER WHY. THE ARTICLE IS FULL OF HARD FACTS AND OBAMA CAMPAIGN AND SENATE OFFICE OFFICIALS REFUSALS TO ANSWER HARD AND IMPORTANT QUESTIONS BECAUSE THEY AND WE KNOW THE ANSWERS. MS. MILLER ESSENTIALLY ADMITTED SHE IS AN NOI MEMBER, WHEN SHE SAID IT WAS NOT THE REASON FOR HER RESIGNATION AS HIS U.S. SENATE CAMPAIGN TREASURER. THE SAME GOES FOR MS. MASON BY HER REFUSAL TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AND THE OBAMA CAMP’S REFUSAL. BETTYLU SALTZMAN’S VIEWS ARE FACTS, AS ARE HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO OBAMA AND HER INFLUENCE ON HIM. DITTO FOR THE PIC OF HIM FETING EDWARD SAID. DITTO FOR THE FACT THAT HE REPRESENTED NOI CENTRAL IN THE STATE SENATE. THE FACTS ARE QUITE CLEAR. DENIAL IS A RIVER IN CHICAGO, APPARENTLY. THIS IS NOT AN OBAMA CAMPAIGN WEBSITE. THIS IS MY WEBSITE, AND FURTHER COMMENTS LIKE YOURS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. AGAIN, YOU ARE ONE STEP FROM BEING BANNED. DS]

What Edward Said Knows

Did you know that the Chmielnicki pogroms of the 17th century that killed so many Jews were really very “progressive” events ? No, you didn’t know that ? Well, Edward Said knows.

And did you know that the Talmud teaches hatred toward Gentiles ? Edward Said knows.

Did you know that Jewish children are taught to utter a ritual curse when passing a non-Jewish cemetery? Edward Said knows.

Or that when orthodox Jews wash two hands, one is to worship Satan ? Or that Orthodox Jews frequently kill those with whom they disagree, for instance liberal rabbis ? Or that the Jews, spurred on by their religious traditions, oppress and kill the Palestinians ? You didn’t even know THAT ? Well, Edward Said knows all this, and more. The Arab-American professor of literature at Columbia University not only knows all these things but he also wishes to share them with you.

The outlandish assertions that I have listed, and many more that are even more preposterous, are contained in a scurrilous little anti-Semitic pamphlet by one Israel Shahak, entitled “Jewish Religion, Jewish History.” The French edition of Shahak was published in 1996 by La Vieille Taupe, a neo-Nazi sect in Paris that publishes books denying the Holocaust. And the French edition (but not the English) contains a remarkable eight-page introductory essay (”avant propos”) by Edward Said.

Shahak is an eccentric Israeli chemist who, aged fifty-three in 1988, retired to devote himself full time to plagiarizing Nazi and other anti-Semitic writers. I had occasion to review his “Jewish History” when it appeared in English. This English edition (but not the French) bore an urgent recommendation by Noam Chomsky (”Shahak is an outstanding scholar, with remarkable insight and depth of knowledge. His work is informed and penetrating, a contribution of great value”). Gore Vidal, outdoing both Said and Chomsky, contributed his Foreword to both editions.

Said’s essay in praise of Shahak, in the French edition, runs into a little problem. While the Holocaust never happened as far as La Vieille Taupe is concerned, Said has on more than one occasion spoken out against Holocaust-denying in the Arab world. So what to do when Said mentions, in passing, that Shahak is a survivor of the Holocaust ? La Vieille Taupe inserts a little footnote there, showing that Said is mistaken on this point (p. 12).

But for the rest, Said is right on board. He praises Shahak for the latter’s felicity in describing Israel as “Judeo-Nazi” (p. 11). He appreciates Shahak’s criticism of Arafat whenever Arafat showed himself conciliatory toward Israel (p. 13). And Said also approves of Shahak’s apposition to Peace Now, since Peace Now, according to Said, is “shameful” in demanding peaceful actions from Palestinians (pp. 13-4). In short, Said finds in Shahak a kindred spirit in demanding, in effect, the complete dismantlement of Israel.

But these political points are completely overshadowed by what can only be considered the bad faith of Edward Said when he praises Shahak’s “scholarship.” Said says that Shahak is the greatest scholar he has ever known (”le plus grand érudit que j’aie jamais connu” — p. 15). The book at hand, says Said, is a powerful study of Judaism, of its rabbinic and Talmudic traditions: “It is nothing less than a concise history of classic and modern Judaism insofar as these are relevant to the understanding of modern Israel” (p. 16).

So we see that Said of Columbia is at one with Chomsky of MIT : endorsing “scholarship” in fields in which he is not expert, in this case the “scholarship” of a shoddy, disreputable propaganda tract. It seems that two of the most distinguished American universities cannot guarantee the moral or indeed the intellectual integrity of what goes on within their walls.

Finally, it is an interesting fact that Said’s praise of Shahak and his “scholarship” is effectively hidden from the public. It is not mentioned in the fulsome bibliography of Said’s writings, nor is Said’s name mentioned in La Vieille Taupe’s own on-line catalog. The book cannot be bought from the American or French amazon.com, it is not listed in the Library of Congress catalog nor in other standard catalogs that are available to the public. I myself became aware of it only when I visited the neo-Nazi Librairie du Savoir in Paris, which in fact is the book’s distributor. It requires a professional librarian to verify the very existence of this item in the OCLC world catalog (not available to the public), or in the catalogue of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (which, to be sure, is available to anyone). It is here, in this official French source, that Said’s dirty little secret — his collaboration with the Nazis — is laid open for all to see. The item is duly listed, as is Said’s introduction to it.
