Obama Woke The Sleeping Giant
America Talks ^ | 3/22/08 | David Zublick

Posted on 03/22/2008 7:38:34 AM PDT by AmericaTalks

Barack Obama has based his entire candidacy on one thing. He wanted to be the first African-American to run for the presidency keeping the issue of race as far into the background as possible. And he almost succeeded in pulling the wool over America's eyes.

His good looks and charismatic appeal made many people view him as the next JFK. Some even thought of him as the second coming of Jesus Christ. We've all seen the pictures of him wowing the crowds with his oratories, women swooning, men cheering. And these were people of all races and creeds, desperate for a candidate who could transcend the barrier of hatred that has so divided this country over its entire history. Even those of us who are conservative, and who despise the misguided vision of the left had to admit that here was a man who broke through the walls that have kept our nation disunited for some 200-plus years.

But wait.

Were we really that far apart? What I mean is...the wounds of racial hatred have, over the past 20 years or so, been healing. The average American, black and white, doesn't harbor any ill will over those of other ethnicities. Most of us get along quite well. We didn't need a guy like Obama to remind us that race should not be an issue. The fact that he was embraced by the voting public should have been an indication that America was ready to put bigotry behind it and accept a black candidate.

And then Obama blew it.

We suddenly find out that we knew absolutely nothing about this guy called Barack Obama. For twenty years, he attended a church in Chicago pastored by a racist whose hatred for America, and especially whites in America, is blatant. Reverend Jeremiah Wright believes our nation was responsible for the attacks of 9-11, and that aids was created to exterminate the black race.

Obama then gave a speech in which acted as an apologist for Wright and refused to disown him. In fact, he continues to embrace him.

That's when the sleeping giant was awakened. The campaign that was supposed to eliminate color suddenly found itself embroiled in controversy. Obama pulled the scabs from the healing wounds of racial divide and now the issue of race is on the front burner.

Will Obama's candidacy be hurt by this? Most certainly. Will his continued association with this church be scrutinized? Absolutely. Will Hillary Clinton and John McCain benefit? You bet.

Will America suffer?

It already has.

"His good looks and charismatic appeal made many people view him as the next JFK."

I probably became a confirmed Republican while observing the Democrats' fawning adulation of John Kennedy. Kennedy was a mediocre man and a mediocre President. I think he had some charisma, but, for the most part, it was lost on me. I never thought he was particularly good looking and concluded that charisma must have elevated his personal appearance and his general mediocrity in the minds of those affected by his charisma.

Time has been kind to Kennedy in my opinion. He was certainly a better President than the Democrats who followed him.

Jackie Kennedy was intelligent and well educated, and she had a good sense of humor (as did her husband)--all charming qualities--but she also had qualities that were not admirable.

All in all, I see nothing in particular to admire about the Kennedys.

This is one of the worst criticisms of Democrats: They have bad judgment. They are shallow. They consistently mistake mediocrity for greatness. The Democrat Party is a magnet for self-serving and sociopathic leaders and ill-informed, unintelligent followers who are poor judges of character--or anything else. They tend to value intentions over results. By the uncontradicted admission of their operatives, they place no value on character, morality, or truth. And they obviously consider the objective to be justification for any means taken.

I am certainly not unaware of the deficiencies of the Republican Party, but Republicans tower over Democrats in everything of value.

Thanks. It is really scary when you think of these two, especially Bill. I don't explore it fully in the profile but his upbringing, alcoholic father dead early, abusive step father, low socioeconomic status in early childhood, etc. really set him up for the rapist/sociopath he became. Hillary's situation is a little more complicated but just as strong as Bill's.

We see it played out daily by these two.

Give me a break. No, it was just that Obama didn't appear, at first, to be a racist hate-monger. This is why Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton never had a chance in a presidential campaign; they obviously were racist misery pimps. Now Obama has revealed himself to be merely a closet racist with a big smile. And even worse, not a racist who, unthinkingly, was the product of a racist environment but one who had, with calculation, adopted that viewpoint in order to give himself believability among racist blacks in Chicago, thinking that they represented the opinions of U.S. blacks at large. He is a Clinton triangulationist in hyperdrive who uses and abuses the attitudes and prejudices of everyone with impugnity for advancing his own agenda.

OK. What term would you suggest to more accurately describe the substitution of one form of discrimination with another discrimination against a party that discriminated - If this makes any sense?

Is it just me or is the sleeping giant taking more naps? I wonder if the giant can stay awake and remember all this until November? I’m guessing not.

His good looks... *screech* Say what? He looks like the bastard child of Sammy Davis Jr and Howdy Doody.

You certainly are entitled to try to be funny, but the undeniable truth is that Obama is considered good looking by most sane people, and it undeniably played a huge role in Obama's initial appeal to the voting public.

Obama will start speaking in all white churches, bring out his white side of the family for the media...

But, according to the Obamassiah, those "typical white" folks won't let him near their church. According to the Obamassiah, churches are the "most segregated" elements of America today!

Which leads me to believe that racist screwhead has never been to any church that wasn't a black racist church.

If Obama is considered "good looking," then I am positively handsome. And believe me, I have a face that's made for radio.

“The wounds of racial hatred have, over the past 20 years or so, been healing.”

It has been less than 20 years since we witnessed an ignorant, arrogant inner-city jury perform jury nullification in the oj simpson case.

Chebama’s campaign has created as much racial division as that trial did, and has succeeded in re-opening the healing scars of yesteryear.

Me too. I spent 35 plus years behind the microphone. But at least my wife thinks I'm good looking - or so she tells me.

Perhaps I have an oversimplified way of thinking, but I call it discrimination. Period. The fact that they are hypocrites is just an added bonus.

These folks are charlatans, plain and simple.

How then to explain the Kennedy family tradition of rape and sociopathy?
