“I hate David Archuletta, that little brainwashed liberal bleeding heart freak’s song choices annoy the hell out of me. I think even the judges would agree with me there.”

LOL - coke through the nose on that one. Too funny.

I’m in total agreement with you. I would pay money to hear either Brooke or David C sing. He is amazingly good.

Yeah, David’s Cook’s rendition is far superior to the original, IMHO. However, it almost seems like I can see David’s hair receding before my eyes! Sorry..

I can’t hear this song without misting up.
Same with the National Anthem.

I like this girl. I was surprised that Simon liked this number.

I have had the pleasure of meeting her the day of the first show this season. She is a sweetheart and was very shy. Top quality woman! VOTE!!!

If the lines give a busy signal, then it may be too late to vote. The voting ends 2 hours after the broadcast in your local area. I guess left coasters can still vote.

i think David Cooke and the dark haired girl show the greatest degree of “professional” talent at this point

i wish David Archuletta had a)waited a few more years, b)got emancipation from his dad (a stage-dad bully) and c)got out on the road for a couple years with ANY musical group (peer review)

i think he does have the clearest voice, the widest tonal range, as much power behind that range as any of the guys and the most melodious voice of the guys

negatively, he lacks maturity as well,

which also gives him one positive quality in this type of personality showcase - his honest, big grin of near embarrassment when he is praised for a good performance

i didn’t know he was a ‘liberal’

David Archuletta is amazing for his young age, and may take the whole enchilada before this is over, especially if the teenage girls vote in droves. I agree with your assessment of his vocal skills, so I am not sure why you would have him wait to enter AI. He has already won some national talent contests. I also think he might do for John Farnham (covering his world hit “You’re the Voice”) what Jason did for Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen a few weeks ago. Apparently half the country discovered “Hallelujah” for the first time. Farnham is an incredibly talented Australian singer who for a time filled in as lead singer for Little River Band. He is a music icon in much of the world but virtually unknown in the U.S.

Cook and Archuletta are obviously the top vote-getters most weeks, and deservedly so. Kristy Lee Cook won’t be in the bottom three this week, but she is clearly one of the weaker performers in this group. My guess is Brooke, maybe Carly, will be the final woman still standing near the end of the run. This year’s winner will be Cook, Archuletta, or possibly Michael Johns.

Simon made the comment the song did not fit him. Simon also added he guessed David did not choose the song. Maybe the dad chose the song, if as you suggest, Papa Archuletta is a stage dad bully. It was a Hippie song. Kid is immature. Did they show concern at the onset that David might not be able handle success if it should come? He was talking about prom as well..what male high school student worries about prom? The last place they really want to be.

Kristy Lee Cook proved she can deliver tonight, however. She does have the IT that goes with being a star. Some of the best singers of Idol past have lacked the IT quality and are short lived. Cook, himself, is already prone to make money. So is Johns. Brook as well. Archuletta looks like a little wind up toy and does not have a relaxed stage presence; but looks like a likeable kid.

Takes time to grow into the show watched by millions, soon will be stars appearing to coach, and when you look back at the first days and then what they are like near the end is a major transformation.

“Did they show concern at the onset that David might not be able handle success if it should come?”

i don’t think it is up to the judges to ask themselves that question; it is up to the parents; do the parents have that concern? i don’t think so; they have been entering david in talent contests for at least the last five years (star search)

david’s emotional immaturity showed during the period they were culling the top 24 down to the top twelve; he was so remorseful at the departure of one of the gals that, during her final song before leaving, he was trying to hide from the cameras, ducking behind the guy standing next to him - but, three or four times the cameras got him and he was really losing it; apparently that gal had caught the scene at least once on one of the monitors and immediately walked over to embrace david once her song ended

i appreciated his emotional honesty but understood he needs to, as a professional, reign the display of it in more - it does beg the question of maturity

“I am not sure why you would have him wait to enter AI.”

except for one time, i think he has played it too safe and not been risk-taking and creative enough in song choices and arrangements of what he has chosen

he has a fantastic voice

but, to see it does not take a lot of effort

but, without a lot of effort it is just a fantastic voice

not a fantastic performance

i think he has the greatest ability to make a WOW performance every time

but, he doesn’t

it could be (total guessing on my part) he is trying too hard to please his dad, and does not yet release himself completely

that could also be an indication of his lack of maturity

so

if he got out, in any form, in the music world, away from dad and just sang, entertained and listened to his performer friends, maybe THAT wow potential would rise to be seen all the time

i think simon’s comment about david’s song choice was clearly a “inside” criticism of david’s dad
