Obama gaffe undermines Dem outreach
Politico ^ | 4/13/08 | DAVID PAUL KUHN

The furor surrounding Barack Obama’s comments about “bitter” small-town voters and their faith clouds an emerging story line that stood to benefit the eventual Democratic nominee at Republican John McCain’s expense.

That narrative was an ironic twist on longstanding partisan stereotypes: a November election that figured to be between a Democrat who is comfortable talking about faith and a Republican who is not.

But the Illinois senator’s controversial remarks about “bitter” small-town Pennsylvanians who “cling” to religion and other cultural stances out of economic despair — comments immediately characterized by New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and McCain as condescending — have suddenly reintroduced an unwelcome issue, undermining the progress made by concerted Democratic Party outreach to religious voters and reinvigorating criticism that the effort to woo religious voters is more rhetoric than substance.

“The danger, frankly, is that Democrats will be perceived as disingenuous,” said Laura Olson, a Clemson University professor who focuses on politics and religion. “What I really would be concerned about there is that Republicans could really spin this and they could say Obama is a Marxist. That’s what Marx said [about religion]: It’s the opiate of the masses.”

Obama gaffe undermines Democrat propoganda effort, is more like it.

Obama is exactly who he is revealing himself to be...as are the Democrats in general.

Republicans could really spin this and they could say Obama is a Marxist.

No spinning required.

Why is it that with Hussein (always call him that) it’s always just a mere gaffe while with Hitlery or McCain it always a horrendous blunder?

Democrats want to replace the despair with gov’t and relieve you of your firearms and religious beliefs at the same time.

DemoLiberal Code Speak:

"it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns (Dangerous Gun Nuts) or religion (Religious morons) or antipathy to people who aren't like them (Racist bigots) or anti-immigrant sentiment (xenophobes) or anti-trade sentiment(Ignorant Provincial Clods)..."

So, why do we have to be "all *that*"? Like we don't have cable/sat and the Internet, just like the "oh so superior Big City" concrete cave leeches..."Gosh Darn! Our town criers just never have the latest news! Hyuck hyuck!"

Obama’s criticism of people with faith underlines the absence of faith in his life. Why am I the only person to see this so far?

So which part of that big tent believes in Religion anyway...

they are the party of aethists, the party of anti-God, the party taking In God We Trust off our money and out of our pledge, taking God out of schools.. the party that supports Homosexual marriage, and murder of the most innocent thru abortion on demand.... the party that believes that science trumps God....

Obama is a Marxist and he does not believe in God... he might talk a good game but he is as empty in his soul as he is in his suit...that much is apparent.

The Obama campaign argues that the Illinois senator was merely saying that “in our toughest times when Christians have our backs against the wall, we’re commanded to hold fast to our faith,” according to Joshua DuBois, Obama’s director of religious affairs.

I wouldn't recomment using the urinal next to Josh's. He'll tell you your leg's wet because it's raining.

Speaking of “clinging” it seems that Obama is still clinging pretty tight to Rev. Wright, his own religious mentor. What’s he bitter about?

The position of Obama and Wright is that of afro-socialist jihad. Obama admits being a follower of Saul Alinsky and the agitation model of community organizing. The latest statements that working-class Americans in small towns are dupes of religion, gun rights, and anti-immigrant views, only further that radical left-wing profile.

“... Republicans could really spin this and they could say Obama is a Marxist. That’s what Marx said [about religion]: It’s the opiate of the masses.”

No, dear, this is NOT about “spinning” at all. This REVEALS that Obama is a Marxist, and that he BELIEVES the Marxist line about “opiate of the masses”. That’s why he supports Rev.Wright. That’s why he STILL doesn’t see how his “apology” offends us just as badly as his original statement! He is an elitist, Marxist member of the “intelligensia” who simply was revealing his HONEST thoughts to a group which he believed to be SECRET, and THOROUGHLY VETTED as pure supporters, all of whom are just as strongly Marxist and elitist.

The key here has almost nothing to do with “bitter”, nor does it have to do with “small town”... the key is how this “uniter” and similar members of the “intelligentsia” look down on we the “little people” of this country, and our beliefs and values and political motivations! Unless you happen to be one of his elitist comrades or at a high rolling fundraiser, he considers you to be a seriously duped person if you don’t agree with him. Whether it’s religion, guns, illegals, etc... it’s all looked at as part of our being lower class.

His looking down on we who happen to seriously care about our religion explains why he could simply ignore all that Wright was saying to begin with, too. It really didn’t matter to him what was going on in the sermons. He was simply there for show to begin with, and to put in some face time to get “known”.

He’s merely an elitist, Marxist, snob who is trying to dupe people into letting him be their taskmaster.
