From Bubba to Flubba: Slew of gaffes makes pals wonder why Bill is losing it

He's just not the same Bubba.

Hillary Clinton's husband is still brilliant, still passionate and still a magnificent campaigner. But people who have known him and observers who have watched Bill Clinton for decades say he's lost at least half a step.

Think of him like Michael Jordan - only the past-his-prime version, playing for the Washington Wizards.

More than one acquaintance used the same words: "He's just not the same."

Colleagues point to a slew of potential reasons for Bubba stepping in it so often, including psychological and medical.

Bubba never had it.

He was only genius at getting his ass out of a sling. And only that because he had so much experience.

Found another old 2004 thread about possible bypass side effects:

Heart patients' mental decline baffles doctors

Billy boy was never quite the same after that bypass, and who knows what other diseases are catching up with him now? Mix that with his sociopathic narcissism, plus his not being the media's golden boy anymore, and it's no wonder he's melting down.

I suspect the STD are finally taking their toll.

There is a reason that he never released his medical information, you know.

Could it be the late effect of multiple social diseases that are eating his brain cells?

“And people wonder why I cheat.”

Honestly, I have never wondered why he cheated.

I have wondered many times why he isn't better at keeping it to himself, though.

What utter contempt he must have for that shrew of a wife that he not only cheats like crazy, but broadcasts his misdeeds for the world to see.

And what sort of woman must Hillary be that she engenders that sort of contempt. And that she stays with him regardless of how badly he embarrasses their family. I'm never in favor of divorce, but I wouldn't be up on stage holding his hand after what he's done.

Yep.

Plus I think he’s always thrown temper tantrums and, contrary to some of the opinion around here, I think he’s steamed that HE’s being rejected through the Witch not even being able to get the nomination and HE’s not to get the opportunity to be co-president again and flap his jaws on tv for the next 4-8 years from in and around the White House.

Thinking back to when he had his surgery, I seem to recall he had a rough time of it, too. He looked HORRIBLE for at least a year afterward; I mean, truly like Death.

Your links are quite sobering. Do you get the impression from the literature that the risk is from bypass surgery period or that it is more related to how bad the patient’s cardiac health is to start with?

There was a time there when it seemed like docs were passing out bypass surgery like candy. Every time I turned around, someone I knew was being told they “needed” bypass surgery. It got bizarre there for a while.

I thought I'd bring this post over from the link you posted:

This was written as an open letter (I don't know anything about Dr. McDougall):

William Jefferson Clinton The William J. Clinton Foundation 55 West 125th St. New York, NY 10027

Dear Bill:

The chance you will ask for my opinion on your pending surgery this week for blockages of your heart arteries is about the same as you escaping the heart bypass business. Regardless, for the sake of others and to clear my conscience by at least trying, I will take this opportunity to share ten challenging thoughts with you.

1) Don't be rushed into making a decision – think about it – they gave you several days already – so immediate surgery is obviously not critical – you have time to learn more.

Over 80% of men in the USA by your age (58 years) have coronary artery disease which can be found by an angiogram, and over half with your cholesterol level (233 mg/dl) have at least one coronary artery already closed by 50% or more – in other words, they are fair game for bypass surgeons. Fortunately, coronary artery disease is not very deadly – the over-all risk of death from this disease for people with affected arteries is less than 2% per year, untreated. Compare these facts with what you have been frightened into believing this past weekend.

2) Nearly four decades of scientific research show coronary artery bypass surgery fails to save lives in most cases. This is because the goal of this surgery is to go around very stable (rock hard) blockages; however, these firm, partial obstructions to heart blood flow are not the life-threatening problem – and your doctors know this well-established fact. These big blockages rarely close down the arteries and almost never cause heart attacks. However, most of the attention is focused on these pseudo-villains found on your angiogram because the result of their discovery feeds money into the heart businesses. 3) The culprit lesions are tiny – invisible to the angiogram – sores (volatile plaques) which explode inside your arteries – suddenly forming an occluding blood clot (thrombosis). Surgery does nothing to stop these lethal events. Fortunately, because the lesions are recently formed, soft, and active, this deadly side of heart disease is also easily amenable to simple methods.

4) These little time bombs (volatile plaques) can be quieted down quickly with a healthy diet and judicious use of cholesterol-lowering medications. Plus, a baby aspirin will immediately thin your blood and make the formation of a potentially lethal blood clot much less likely if a plaque were to burst.

5) You have a reversible disease, Bill – this is not concrete in your arteries. Living tissues heal and your body will fight to stay alive. Now is the time to talk to your friend Dr. Dean Ornish. Regardless of whether or not you have the surgery, you are going to have to change back to the low-fat, no-cholesterol diet Dr.Ornish taught you several years ago. Read my June 2003 newsletter article: Cleaning Out Your Arteries.

6) The real indications for bypass surgery are:

a) incapacitating chest pain and/or b) damage to your left ventricle (heart chamber) so that you eject 50% or less of your blood with each heart beat. Every cardiologist and bypass surgeon knows this. From what I have read you have neither of these legitimate indications for surgery.

7) You are known for your wit and intellect. This surgery causes brain damage. Measurement of chemical products released into the spinal fluid during surgery shows that 100% of people suffer brain damage. In most cases the changes are subtle – like personality disorders, or you may not be able to remember names and numbers as well. A study in the February 2001 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine found 42 percent of patients five years after surgery had a 20% decrease in brain function. My experience has been that doctors mislead patients into believing this is not an important problem.

8) There is a real possibility that bypass surgery could interfere with another of your well-known attributes. Erectile dysfunction has been reported to be caused by bypass surgery. (Don't you just hate it when people hit below the belt?)

9) Your most recent attempt at weight loss, the South Beach Diet, contributed to your present troubles. Steak, chicken, eggs, and Canadian bacon consumed without limitation are bad for your arteries, Bill. Even the author, Arthur Agatston, MD, must know this – after all he, himself, takes statin drugs to lower his cholesterol, and fish oil and aspirin to help reduce his personal risk of a heart attack.

10) You have always been interested in better healthcare for Americans and now you have an opportunity to make a real difference – stand up to this big business and demand the truth before you make your decision to have or postpone surgery. Right now you are being lied to – mostly by omission of vital information from doctors – you can verify everything I have written to you within a few short hours on the Internet (http://www.nlm.nih.gov). Your example could save more lives and people from suffering unnecessarily than any action you could have ever taken while you were in office. Make the most out of this apparent set back in your health.

Sincerely,

John McDougall, MD

“Bill hasn’t changed the news media has. He didn’t get by with telling all those lies with out the help of the press.”
_________________________________________________________________________

That’s what I’ve been telling everyone I can get to listen; Bill was ALWAYS like this, it’s just that for years and years, the dutiful MSM covered up his gaffes and “purple rages.” Now they’re in the tank for the New Messiah and the Clinton’s do not have them following with broom and dustpan.

They have had trouble getting it through their heads, too. Witness Hillary’s Tuzla Troubles. She couldn’t believe the media was making such a big deal about another little old fib. It was only when the news channels ran the actual video in heavy rotation did she realize too late that the paradigm had shifted.

Do you get the impression from the literature that the risk is from bypass surgery

Apparently from the surgery:

"Brain damage during bypass surgery is so common that hospital personnel refer to it as “pump head.” The primary cause is emboli produced during surgery from clamping the aorta and from the “heart-lung machine.” This machine pumps blood to keep the patient alive while the heart is stopped during the operation. Unfortunately, this pump also introduces toxic gases, fat globules, and bits of plastic debris into the bloodstream of the patient under anesthesia. Once they are in the bloodstream, these particles migrate to the brain where they can clog capillaries and prevent adequate amounts of blood and oxygen from flowing to the brain. Essentially, all patients experience brain emboli during surgery and for many the damage is permanent." http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2008other/080412clinton.htm

You may want to read Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's book, 'Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease,' if this topic interests you. Esselstyn has some videos on YouTube as well. He has been treating people (in Cleveland, OH) dying from heart disease for almost 20 years on a low fat vegetarian diet, enabling them to avoid surgery. It's amazing work, along the line of Dean Ornish's plan. Sadly, many people would rather go thru a bypass than change their eating habits. Even sadder, if they don't change their eating habits after the first bypass, they are almost certainly going to have to have another one.

Treponema pallidum, indeed. Was leaning more towards Pump Head, myself.

We've waited a long, long time for these particular pullets to park and I intend to savor every one.

We always laugh about it, but it’s not really funny. There was an episode in “Home Improvement” where a guy is wanting to eat a pork sandwich; he keeps saying his doctor told him not to eat stuff like that. Finally, he yells, “Why’d I have that bypass surgery anyway?” as he stuffs down the sandwich.

So we have been saying “Why’d I have that bypass surgery anyway?” for several years now whenever we were making a joke about deliberately doing something health-wise that maybe was a little over the top, all things considered.

I guess the laughs we got out of that one may have been good for the heart, however!!
