Hundreds of foreign-born families have pulled their children from Prince William County public schools and enrolled them in nearby Fairfax County, Arlington County and Alexandria since the start of the school year, imposing a new financial burden on those inner suburbs in a time of lean budgets.
The school-to-school migration within Northern Virginia started just as Prince William began implementing rules to deny some services to illegal immigrants and require police to check the immigration status of crime suspects thought to be in the country illegally. ...
According to the Prince William school system, enrollment in the English for speakers of other languages, or ESOL, program dropped by 759 between September and March 31. It was the first known instance of a decline in ESOL students, said Irene Cromer, a schools spokeswoman.
During that period, 623 ESOL students from Prince William enrolled in Fairfax schools, compared with 241 in the same period the previous year....
Prince William's schools expect to save $6 million in education costs as a result of the exodus -- a cost that will be borne by the other communities. Some officials in Fairfax and elsewhere say they expect the numbers to climb in the next academic year. ...

Sounds like a good way for school districts to save money on their budgets.

Well those counties know how to stop the spending.
Fairfax should be celebrating its additional diversity instead of whining about the additional cost.

This is great news. It shows that enforcement will fix the problem.
The counties (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria) toward which the illegals are now moving are those that have set themselves up as sanctuary cities and counties. That sounds compassionate, but in reality they never welcomed the illegals. Instead, they have “gentrified” their properties, changing former slums and lower-class housing into developments where no illegal or poor could afford to live. That forced the illegals into the further suburbs where they could afford a home with lower prices and overcrowded residents. So their sanctuary policies meant nothing, because illegals couldn’t afford to live there, or go to their schools.
Now the chickens are coming home to roost. As outer communities like Prince William county and Herndon town start enforcing the law, the illegals are forced into the inner suburbs. Fairfax is already forecasting massive debt in the coming years, and now they will inherit thousands of more illegals’ students to school at $11,000 a head. Just 10,000 new illegals’ students will increase their budget (and debt) $110,000,000!
Let’s see how compassionate they are next year. It will be interesting to watch them choke on their liberal politics.
I predicted the migration to Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria last year.
As a Fairfax resident and taxpayer I’m curious to see how this will pan out.

Don’t want to pay for those kids in your district? Enact a similar illegal imigrant policy and they’ll go someplace else. And probably take a few more with them, too.

Since then, "between September and March 31 ... 623 ESOL students from Prince William enrolled in Fairfax schools."
You specifically mention enforcement in Herndon. South Lakes and Herndon are adjacent high schools and both are in Fairfax County. Since the beginning of this school year the student population has declined at Herndon by 50 but has increased at South Lakes by 19.
Can the ILLEGALS just send their children to these schools or do they actually have to move to the school district? Remember, laws & rules do not apply to them. Many cross the border every day to go to public schools and the taxpayers have to foot the bill for those children.
