Obama: I Am ‘Outraged’ and ‘Angered’ By Wright’s Comments
Fox News ^ | April 29, 2008 | staff

Barack Obama, declaring “that’s enough,” denounced Tuesday as “appalling” and “ridiculous” comments made in the last few days by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.

In a press conference in North Carolina, the Illinois senator used his strongest language to date to condemn Wright’s controversial sermons, which have remained a burden on his campaign since they became national news more than a month ago. Wright spoke Monday at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

“I am outraged by the comments that were made, and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday,” Obama said.

“The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe they ended up giving comfort to those who prey on hate,” he said.

Wright capped off a weekend-long set of public appearances at the Press Club, returning to the spotlight and casting an unwanted shadow over Obama’s campaign. Wright used his appearance to taunt reporters, criticize his country’s foreign policy and suggest that Obama only distanced himself from Wright out of political posturing.

Obama said he was particularly “angered” by that suggestion.

“If Reverend Wright thinks that that’s political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn’t know me very well — based on his remarks yesterday I may not know him as well as I thought either,” Obama said.

Shortly after the Wright controversy broke, Obama condemned his pastor’s sermons but still kept him at an arm’s length, saying Wright was “like family” and he could no more “disown” him than his own grandmother.

Yep, you notice, he wasn’t outraged by what Wright said about America, he was outraged by what Wright said about him!

LOL, indeed.

Once it became clear that defending Wright was failing to stop his free-fall from grace, it's time to try something else.

Now, we get to sit back and see just how many rubes fall for this.

Sure, he'll lose a few militant racist Disciples of Wright (the Sharpton-Farrakhan types). But, it's not as if that bunch will work for Hillary or vote for McCain!

This jerk Wright seems from here to be nothing less than a political operative for the Clintons.

This could result in a serious backlash by Blacks when (hardly “if”) Hillary wins the nomination.

"..Obama has the nomination locked....."

I certainly may be proved wrong, but I sincerely think that you are in for a surprise.

Obama is appalled when Wright attacks Obama. Not so appalled when he attacks America.

After reading your earlier post and this one, I sense that you really do have your finger on the pulse of what is going on here.

My thoughts exactly, and I think he’s going to be able to pull it off. It even seems that Fox has bought this bit of magic.

Just saw a thread with the numbers from Kentucky and Indiana.

Hillary leads in both. KY by over 40%, and IN by 5

I think you are right. I half expect to see Andy Kaufman(if he were still with us)and Jerry Lawless (sp) roll through the scene slapping each other. The Rats sure are looking like buffoons this election year.

Actually, it may be Wright, Sharpton et al. perceive that Obama is a threat to their lucrative livelihood of race-baiting.

After all, if Obama gets elected, it’ll be because millions of TWP vote for him. That might make it obvious that the way to be “liberated” in America is to forget the likes of Wright and Sharpton, get an education, get a job and start making one’s way through the mainstream.

If Obama were to get elected, it would be harder and harder for these creeps to preach that it’s the white man who’s keeping the black man down.

So, would they intentionally hurt Obama’s chances? Yes, I think they would. His success threatens their hate enterprise, just by its existence and regardless of what ideas Obama himself ascribes to. His success demonstrates “liberation” apart from Black Liberation Theology and that cannot be allowed; that would make it too obvious how to get off the plantation.

Gadzooks! Not much of a press conference and nothing substantial in it. Now, the MSM, other than Fox, will not play anything not positive towards nObama. If nearly 20 years of Rev Wright's sermons did not tell Obama what a racist this man is, then he is one Presidential candidate that has a very serious character flaw.

The only thing this shows is that nObama is clueless and to give the devil his dues, Rev Sharpton has it right. nObama is posturing for the white folks!

My my.....Obama is now going to throw the Rev. Wright under the same bus he threw his white granny?
Too late - Obama - the Potemkin Village of your campaign has already collapsed.

Obama is one of two things:
1. An ignorant bastard who didn’t understand what Wright has been preaching for 20 years in his presence..

2. A damned liar for denying he heard any of the most offensive comments from Wright before the press jumped on them...

He’s either ignorant or a liar — neither of which speaks well for a presidential candidate....

Of course — he could be BOTH ignorant and a liar.... Many are.

Obama and his rabid wife have become poster children for the Affirmative Action Program -—— explaining why folks still look askance at blacks with prestigious degrees...

It’s really too bad for the real performers - to suffer the consequence for their AA brothers and sisters....

The Clintons are a criminal syndicate with a political propaganda machine and an army of well-heeled professional cadres unseen since the days of Goebbels.

Exactly.

"With pastors like Wright, Obama doesn't need any enemies."

As George Will said, "Rev Wright is the gift [to the Republicans] that keeps on giving."

hello all; first post here. After reading the terms I'm afraid I have a really long 'vanity type post' so I will condense it and not post whole thing.

Barack's attempt to conceal, and deny, that he knew any of the Wright displays of antithical philosophy and racist rants are pure hogwash.

Quotes from Obama’s book, Dreams From My Father Obama, after meeting with Wright at Trinity 1985:
"Afterward, in the parking lot, I sat in my car and thumbed through a silver brochure that I’d picked up in the reception area. It contained a set of guiding principles-a “Black Value System”-that the congregation had adopted in 1979.
At the top of the list was a commitment to God, “who will give us the strength to give up prayerful passivism and become Black Christian activists, soldiers for Black freedom and the dignity of all humankind.”

Obama knew. Obama Choose.
