Sorry but DH just has no TV Land charisma. If he had that he would probably be the nominee. Perhaps, but he's no worse in that sense than McCain stammering, backpeddling and apologizing to liberals at every turn in front of the camera. The fact is that the pubbies eschewed him for not being sensitive enough to hispanics (code for illegals) and bucking shamnesty. He was simply bypassed to die on the vine.
