The Middle of Nowhere.

In Flyover Country there are wide open spaces and privacy AND access to everything the big cities offer.

My wife and I have no curtains or shutters on the windows. I'm so accustomed to going outside naked that I have to watch it when I do venture into the cities.

When I lived in the San Francisco area, I said to my wife: "I can get anything in the world I want here, but it will take me all day (fighting traffic) to go and get it." Here in the sticks, I can get anything in the world I want, via the internet et al., and I can relax and breathe the fresh air while it comes to me. If I want to go to a museum or concert, the big cities are close by in time.

And out here in the wilderness, many sophisticated people are close at hand and also available by telephone or internet, as here on FreeRepublic.

Everybody is educated and sophisticated in the Information Age. The man who comes to fix the sink watched The Dinosaur Special on TV and listened to the Metropolitan Opera broadcast of The Daughter of the Regiment last Saturday.

Furthermore, out here in Nowhere, it's easier to avoid decadent nutcase Leftists and their obnoxious slavery to Groupthink--which is a REAL ADVANTAGE!
