Unless I misremember my geography, the only land border the UK has is with Ireland. Were they trying to swim the English Channel or North Sea??

I think that land border the Brits have is with Scotland, not Ireland.
According to no less an authority than a clan map I once saw in a souvenir shop, my ancestors own the south shore of Loch Ness.
If I can put together the cash I intend to travel there and check up on my monster.
