During the primary, Crist also defended his refusal to intervene when he was Florida's attorney general in the Terri Schiavo case. The brain-damaged woman died in 2005 after the courts allowed her feeding tube to be removed.

That was after the Legislature and Congress passed laws, signed by Bush and his brother, President Bush, that were designed to keep her alive. The Florida Supreme Court, including Cantero and Bell, unanimously declared the state law unconstitutional.

Crist said then the courts were the proper place to decide the case and as governor he would "appoint judges that adhere to the rule of law."

Applicants for the two high court vacancies include some with obvious political connections, starting with 1st District Court of Appeal Judge Clay Roberts........

When CHARLIE CRIST WAS FL AG, his AG Dept. told callers that "They didn't have a civil rights department." That was a BOLD FACED LIE AND DERELICTION OF DUTY.

Calls go to Tallahassee and are routed to the Fort Lauderdale AG's Office where the Civil Rights issues are processed.
