Jim, you’re in my prayers. I hope for a quick and complete recovery for you.
Here are my thoughts, from the very, very cheap seats at the furthest point in the park from your place in the batter’s box:
If the worst happens and you must have this operation, please try to remember that our bodies are but a shell - the real person is our soul, which is immortal. Also, if/when you start feeling down about this situation, please try to put it in perspective (as I try to do when feeling down for whatever reason): things could be worse, lots worse, and many people have and are going through worse than you. Be thankful for what you have, and make the most of it.
