It seems obvious that this is a laserprint of a computerized report, showng data about Obama that was pulled from a database. All of the technology is very modern.

That doesn't make the data suspect. Now, perhaps there are grounds to think the data is suspect. But a modern computerized birth certificate output doesn't raise any red flags for me.

Is that, in fact, the way the Aloha State responds when someone asks for a certified copy of their birth certificate, with a computer-generated copy? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

As was said above, some Honolulu Freeper born around '61 should ask for a copy of his/her birth certificate and see what happens.

He is saying it is not a official document that had the pertinent Obama info added, then printed. Read his analysis carefully.

That's the catch. It was not consistent with a laser printer printout of a document. It was consistent with a digitally created image not a laser printed form. If it was simply laser printed, the background where the printing occurred would match the background where there wasn't printing.

It should. If a legimate Hawaii birth certificate for Obama really exists, a legit photocopy of it, without any computer technology on its face, should be available for a reasonable fee from the state or local government. Any person of even moderate intelligence would want to obtain a true certified copy of such a document to prove beyond doubt that Obama was really born in Hawaii on the date indicated. Otherwise there are reasonable questions as to the document's authenticity, which in turn raise questions as to Obama's real place and date of birth.

Take it from a graphic artist: A laser printer works with vector (mathematical) lines, not bitmap. They do this for the express reason of creating documents with smooth characters. Even if someone were to reproduce the document in Photoshop or some other bitmap based program, while the text would have the characteristic, "jagged" edges, there would be no artifacts (blocks or dots) around the text. This is a very amateurish forgery. I can't believe that this is really supposed to be his birth certificate. I still cannot deduce if the person who posted it has any connection with Obama in the first place, which makes the whole thing a non-issue. Can someone explain why this blog poster or this document is really supposed to represent Obama's birth certificate?

I don't think so. This is a Photoshop job using bit-mapped pieces of text and layering them onto a crudely faked certificate background. This is not something a bureaucrat secretary does routinely.
