You are correct that this is a political matter. Which is one of the reasons I'm often pointy end of so many pitchforks around here.
I think it's important to offset some of the mindless witchhunts that seem to be more consistently occuring on FR of late. Infil-traitors perhaps?

Those pitchfork and torch sessions are just so much counterproductive venting (the relieve the urge to actually DO something constructive about it,) and just provide google-searchable examples to be used to tar-and-feather us by the REAL pitchforkers over on the left.
