It's a lawyer's deal. It didn't happen then--someone managed to do it much later and make it "effective" at an earlier date so that he doesn't appear to have been in violation of the law then; and so that he appears to be eligible to hold positions for which it is a prerequisite.

Social Security numbers (since the 1970’s) are assigned based on the zip code of the location from which the person applied. If Selective Service numbers are based on Social Security numbers, wouldn’t 611 be assigned from a neighborhood in California?

IIRC, wasn’t there something similar with the JFn’K discharge from the Navy....the Carter amnesty and discharge bump?

I think you are recalling the Carter pardon, right?

Yeah, but during the 04 campaign there were questions about whether Kerry had really gotten an honarable discharge. IIRC,the discharge date and what would have been the end of his stint did not match....but did match with the Carter pardon and bump in discharge classifications. Maybe the rats DO learn when they've been through the maze before?

I don't know....all I can tell you is that nearly all SS#s I've seen on job applications from locals and legal immigrants begin with 576. My SS# sticks out since its initial numbers are low. East coast.

SS#s predate Postal zip codes so I don't think there's any connection.

Thanks for the link! I notice the recollections include mention of the Atherton Centre and I wonder if that is where the YMCA was as well. In the newspaper article (when he graduated) he never mentioned a marriage or baby either. Kind of reminds me of the baby daddies of today.

There is no direct relationship between ZIP and SSN. The numbers issued to Hawaii residents begin with 575-576 and 750-751.

My grandkids were born in the 1980's & 90's and all their SS numbers start with a 53. We live in WA State. Their numbers are no where near what our zip code is.

I read it and I didn't see illegal alien anywhere. It does say Aliens. There is a difference between an Alien and an Illegal Alien.

The ears...maybe. Not that it matters. BTW, can’t remember now where I saw it, but somewhere there’s a comment that obama’s house is for sale. He might think he won’t need it no more - or he might not be coming back from Hawaii...wouldn’t it be funny if he disappeared and showed up years and years later in Pakistan or Kenya or Indonesia...hehe.
