Would you want your child receiving a transfusion from a known gay who had a test months earlier? I wouldnt. I wouldn't want my child receiving a transfusion from ANYONE, gay or straight, who was known to be sexually active with more than one partner. And from the stories my military friends tell me, that means I wouldn't want a child of mine getting a transfusion from almost any single guy serving...

You know the stats.
Heterosexual transmission of hiv (and other blood borne pathogens) is (1) very unlikely, and (2) like you say, the result of common behavior and not uncommon/unnatural.
