I’m upset that fine people like Tony die and retarded gasbags like Al Franken and chrissie matthews are still breathing.

This is how I lost my religion. - And as another great conservative and Freeper bids us goodbye, the liberal tide is rising.

Even the GOP is casting us aside.
RIP Tony. RIP

Yes very sad for the family... and the Lord grieves at their pain ...Don’t know what religion you “lost” but Christians accept what the Lord has in store. Jesus never loses us.

In times of distress Christians believe even more and their faith gets stronger...there is everlasting life.

Here's a comment from Tony on Free Republic about faith that might help:

Final point: My “secular” description of consolation was less secular than you might imagine. The simple impulses to practice compassion make absolutely no sense in a world shorn of meaning, guided by mere caprice, and eventuating in a dusty casket. There would be no reason to feel empathy, sympathy or love. But we do, whether we consider ourselves believers or not. And the pertinent question to ask once we grant to one another our shared humanity is: Why do all generations of mankind share the same basic precepts, same feelings of compassion, the same altruism — especially toward the young — despite wild changes in the natures of societies themselves. Governments have evolved radically over the last two milennia. Basic moral precepts have not. And the overwhelming question — the one that led me, at least, back to faith is: Why?

In honor of Tony Snow and his inspirational life with us here...please try to be more optimistic. If we could find it in ourselves to fight as hard as he did...THINK of what we could accomplish.

Each one of us CAN do this--if not for ourselves, then for Tony.

Never give up.

BELIEVE.

*

Tony did.

This is how I lost my religion.

Bill,

I think Tony would be aware of the irony. C.S. Lewis probed the subject with The Problem with Pain. The theme of "how can bad things happen to good people" is not new. If anyone could have entitled to loose his religion over it, Tony could. He was supremely aware of how blessed his life was. He wrote of it here:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2007/july/25.30.html

It is well worth the read. And for Tony and the adventure of what he called his 'promotion':

May God make safe to you each step;

May God make open to you each pass;

May God make clear to you each road;

And may He take you in the clasp

Of His own two hands.

And may it be so for you, Bill.

If you lost your religion because of this, it is because you do not see the other side. Ask Tony today if he would trade anything for where he is now. I don’t have to guess what the answer would be. His life here may have been too short for us, but he has eternity at Christs side.
And those of us who believe will join Tony in the heavenly chorus soon enough. What a great day that will be. Meanwhile the fate of those who refuse to believe and accept is nothing I want to ponder. When the scales are weighed at the end, even the skeptics and unbelievers will have to say that God is just and fair.

The true evil is not in the given prominence of evil, but when good (wo)men quit fighting against it.

If one is tired of fighting then put that frustration into leading an admirable (Godly) life and work to be as God has gifted you and as an example and inspiration to others.

No matter how high the liberal tide, in the end God prevails. He always does. Giving up and allowing evil to prevail is the way it always wins.

Maybe the “losing of my religion” is a good thing as it allows you to pick up anew in God which will return you to worship, to search for the daily discipline to sharpen you and to buffer you in joyful and glum times. This is the religion that is offered by many ‘conservative’ churches. It is also a place to be re-inspired when the day to day evil in the world wears at us. This is my 2 cents given my experience. It may not be your struggle, but one I often need to be reminded of so I share this--if not for you--but for me.

Tony is with God and God is most likely smiling. Al and Chris are just living in their own dodo by themselves—alone— buffeted by their huge egos.

Remember Winston Churchill's inspirations....never give up, never surrender despite long odds. The darkest hour is just before dawn!

"I’m upset that fine people like Tony die and retarded gasbags like Al Franken and chrissie matthews are still breathing."

I believe that a loving God truly wants to bless people, and some of these (less than wonderful) people live long and prosperous lives because He knows it is His only chance to love on them. For eternity.

Bill: never give up. Tony Snow was more than a tremendous asset to the Conservative movement - far more. He was a good and decent man who enjoyed the love of his family and friends. That is the greatest victory any man can achieve on this earth. I will say the Kaddish for him, as is the custom in my faith for any person who affected your life in a meaningful and positive way. And he did.

Magnified and sanctified be God's great name in the world which He created according to His will. May he establish His kingdom during our lifetime and during the lifetime of Israel. Let us say, Amen.

You, friend: read Psalm 73. The psalmist struggled with exactly this problem.

Tony is in a better place now, and was probably spared great misery as we enter the dark days ahead. God bless his memory and comfort and provide for his family. One very special man Tony; he will be missed sorely.

IF you still have a Bible, read Isaiah 57:1-2.

Believe.

I say similar things and my wife who is a committed Christian(I’m not)always says she doesn’t like when I do.But it is the way I feel.I’ll tell you one thing-I won’t shed any crocodile tears when that bloated degenerate Ted Kennedy is gone.You’re right-Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are still rockin’and rollin’-a shame.The biggest inequity is that Ruth Bader Ginsburg has colon cancer and the wrteched old crone is still able to damage this country.She almost succeeded in disarming the population and gave a break to baby rapers.Okay,I’m gonna stop the rant.
