Yes, you are right.
I guess my point was that talking about "spending" is an inherently boring issue... to the point no one even listens or much cares because it has been analyzed, promised, and campaigned to death in 2008 and years prior.
I adamantly believe that energy/oil/drilling, military/terrorism, and stopping illegal immigration are THE hot-button issues that will garner McCain the most support.... or opposition.
of course there are other issues that require a bit of facetime, but elections need focus.. this is the one main issue at this time.. sheesh, you know I’m not the first to say it.
Terrorism, run away government spending, illegal immigration, gay marriage,etc...all are important, but he has to pick one issue and pound away. That is the only way he will be heard.
When your opponent is self-destructing on the launch-pad, it's best to say nothing (The New Yorker cover being the Obama gaff de jur).
it’s a good line... but you don’t win elections in this country by saying nothing.
McCain Falsely Claims He Has Never Requested An Earmark
McCain openly supported Abraham's pork for Michigan then failed to vote on on it, claiming it was pork.

Never say never on national TV, Juan.
Exactly. Senators make horrible presidential candidates, since they have the stench of being in Washington. This helps Obama since the longer one serves, the worst the stench.
Coal is not an "alternative energy" source. It's been used since the dawn of man. Sixty per cent of the electricity in the state of Tennessee comes from coal.
Nuclear energy is not an "alternative source of energy." Eighty per cent of the electricity in France comes from nuclear power plants. There is a nuclear power plant built under the auspices of Long Island Power and Light that was completed in 1987(?), but was never fired up due to greenies and then governor Mario Cuomo. If it hasn't decayed beyond the point of usefullness, that energy source could be brought into play.
Now the biofuel/ethanol crap has proven to be a disaster. Wind and solar are small, long term solutions that can be developed concurrently with more effective and efficient current solutions.
The problem is people don't think beyond myopic mantras.
You are exactly right. That is exactly what Democrat Mark Warner did here in Virginia which has a requirement for a balanced budget of course even though we had a billion dollar surplus after Gov Gilmore cut the horrid car tax by 70% Warner and “moderate” Republicans helped him push through a billion dollars in tax increases and grew spending accordingly. Now Warner is given credit for managing the Commonwealth well when all he did was grow government and raise taxes breaking his campaign promises to do otherwise.
Fire all federal bureaucrats not connected with national security and the economy will boom.
