Limbaughs been making news today with his new $400,000,000 contract, but this from the New York Times caught my eye more than his big new contract:
At dinner the night before, Bill OReillys name came up, and Limbaugh expressed his opinion of the Fox cable king. He hadnt been sure at the time that he wanted it on the record. But on second thought, somebodys got to say it, he told me. The man is Ted Baxter.
Rush didnt have much nice to say about Sean Hannity either:
Limbaugh has a deeply conflicted attitude toward Sean Hannity, his one-time stand in and now perpetual No. 2 on the Talkers list. He speaks of the younger man with the same condescending affection that Muhammad Ali once showed Jimmy Ellis, a former sparring partner turned challenger. But he wanted me to remember who is the Greatest. I have no competitors, he said. Hannity isnt even close to me.
Rush is right, but he probably didnt need to come right out and say that.
Sean seems to be a Republican sycophant. Everyone could be in soup lines and Sean would say, “whaddya, mean, the economy’s great!”
Well, Beck does do the voice thing, but I’ve been listening to him for years and he continues to make me laugh, so I’ll keep on listening.
Actually, Beck is doing a pretty darn good job of promoting himself (after all...they are all entertainers, even Rush.) He has the radio show, the tv show, the books, the tours and we have tickets to Beck’s simulcast tomorrow evening, I guess it’s a new venture. He’s broadcasting his live show to 350 theaters. I couldn’t believe the tickets sold out so fast, we’re having to drive to the theater that’s 4th closest to our home (only about 24 miles though.)
I understand why some folks don’t like Beck, because there are radio hosts that other people like and I can’t listen (Hannity and O’Reilly to name a couple.) Rush is the best radio guy, IMHO...and I don’t think any of the other hosts I’ve mentioned would argue the point.
Michael Savage has frequently criticised all of them (Sean “Vanity”, “The Leprechaun”, “Hush Bimbo”) for a long time, and often for the same reasons that Rush criticises both Hannity and O’ Reilly. It’s just that Savage has moments where he hates everybody, so Savage ends up losing credibility with many people from his rants.
It wasn’t meant as a cheap shot. It was simply an observation of what I believe to be a very lonely man.
IF true (and the source IS the NYTimes after all) these are dreadfully classless comments, unworthy of the universally acknowledged Talk Media Kingpin. I wouldn’t think El Rushbo’s ego would need such a self-stroking display.
Ted Baxter also had an enormous ego. Like Ted Baxter, O’Reilly is in love with himself as is Sean Hannity.
Oh, I'll try....
RAT VOMIT?
Rush’s head is getting as fat as the rest of him. I agree with him on BOR and SH however he is no better than either of them. They are all a bunch of wind bags that have very little worthwhile to offer.
Tex Baxter is very likely the funniest, most entertaining sitcom character ever created.
Best episode for a sitcom ever — Chuckle the clown dies
Classic!!
Oh well
Rush nailed it in regards to BOR & Hannity. Hannity is also a Koolaid drinking Republican marching in lock-step to McCain/FOX News headquarters. His show has rapidly become boring, pointless and grossly untenable and is nothing but a “Rah-Rah McCain!” pep-fest. Every show he does is exactly the same as the one the day before.
I no longer listen to either.
"Hey Lou -- they stole your poem!"
Oh the memories:

O’Reilly should have resigned. She was just like Monica Lewinsky, and Bill emulated Bill.
In his middle teens he gets on the radio after a course and is enthralled with the fame. Note, that he is not seen but listened to.
The haute bourgeois especially base their self system on what they look like, what others think of them and what they do for a living.
Rush's vocational choice fit all three in some way.
Like many fat people who have an inner thin person trying to get out, he undoubtedly selected dynamite attractive women for marriage—three times. While he blames his drug problem on doctors and a bad back, it is noteworthy that opiates can be powerful appetite suppressants—especially taken to excess.
The common thread in his life is his weight, his shows have often (mostly in the past) discussed this even to the point of him relating his diet and so forth.
His real strength is not talking but listening. He is as good a listener as one can find. He not only knows his audience but he quickly assesses callers and makes them bona fide attributes to the program (something which almost no other talk show host does consistently). In a word, Rush is a creative listener and both his supporters and detractors miss this.
He purports to be the voice of conservatism but he surely does not live the typical conservative lifestyle. Presently, he seems caught up in his possessions but this, too, will pass. He is changing like the rest of us and seems ready for something new.
you tube took that video off. What was it?
WKRP in Cincinnati with more music and Les Nessman.

DITTOS!
[I think Rushs bloated ego has something to do with his failed personal relationships. Someone has to say it.]
He has said as much himelf. But Rush has a research staff second to none in the news OR entertainment business. He also has a tremendous memory and is able to relate conservative principles to current affairs. Not to say Sean is bad but he is steps below Rush.
As others have said, when I first heard Rush (August, 1989) I told my sister and said I didn’t believe the schitck but he was saying exactly what I was thinking.
I fell in love with the ‘60 second sale’ and the ‘Spatula City’ ads.
