I realize that some of those people NEED those jobs and I am sure some of them are single moms, etc.

FWIW, I have a relative that is a big gambler and when she goes into a casino, they roll out the red carpet for her. She is also the biggest con artist that ever lived and has conned many a man out of money. She’s aging though so I don’t think too many men are going to be suckers much longer.

Only recently (i.e. since Vegas was built by the mafia), has gambling become considered “mainstream.” Historically, it has always been considered vulgar. Just considering that Vegas was built on money from ill-gotten gains and corruption is enough to keep me away, but knowing how many people’s lives are destroyed by it makes it abhorrent to me.

You will never hear me say I am perfect and I don’t believe I am a better person than you since I don’t even know you. You might be the kindest soul that ever walked the earth.

However, I do think gambling is a sickness and a scourge.

Incidentally, if you hate Ohio so much, why do you even stay here? Nevada has better weather and Pennsylvania has better sports teams.

As for the money you won, perhaps you had a good night, but all-in-all, I’d be interested in knowing your net winnings over the years.

I would not step foot in a casino any more than I would a brothel unless it were to help some poor soul, the way you were helped.

As for how you spend your money, obviously it is a free country and you are not doing anything illegal. If you and your husband wanted to blow your entire salaries from both of your jobs on gambling that is your business, but I can still have my opinion and thought about what I think gambling is and does.

I don’t have the luxury of extra money now since I’m going back to school, but when I did, my money went to buy shoes, clothes and medical supplies for the poor in the countries where my church does mission work. I’ve gone on a mission trip myself and have supported many mission groups in the past.

The Bible says to “redeem the time for the days are evil” and it also says we are not to have anything to do with “get rich quick schemes” and I lump gambling into the latter, and the fact that wasting time in a casino would not be redeeming the time.

Again, no slander to you personally, but I note that a lot of these addictive behaviors go together (drinking, smoking and gambling).

P.S. I don’t want ANY tax dollars in Ohio to come from this filth. And, incidentally, you will never see casinos ever come to any wealthy communities, that is a fact. The rich people don’t want that stuff in their backyard so why should I just because I’m an average joe?

Oh really?????

The ones in Delaware are not exactly in the section 8 housing sections.........

I agree with Madame Dufarge in regard to sanctimony.
