The Lawnmower Men
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 19, 2008 | WAll Street Journal

Al Gore blew into Washington on Thursday, warning that "our very way of life" is imperiled if the U.S. doesn't end "the carbon age" within 10 years. No one seriously believes such a goal is even remotely plausible. But if you want to know what he and his acolytes think this means in practice, the Environmental Protection Agency has just published the instruction manual. Get ready for the lawnmower inspector near you.

In a huge document released last Friday, the EPA lays out the thousands of carbon controls with which they'd like to shackle the whole economy. Central planning is too artful a term for the EPA's nanomanagement. Thankfully none of it has the force of law -- yet. However, the Bush Administration has done a public service by opening this window on new-wave green thinking like Mr. Gore's, and previewing what Democrats have in mind for next year.

Just try to buy a light, small two cycle outboard motor for a flat transom canoe, for example. The EPA has prohibited them and now forces you to buy more expensive and, worst of all, 25% heavier, four cycle engines for the same purpose. With a 5 hp engine this means a 55 lb. monstrosity instead of a relatively handy 44 lb. engine that's not too hard to lift on to and off of your boat's transom. Even now they're doing the same thing with two cycle lawn machines, like weed eaters.

The Communist/Socialist could not defeat America by force of arms.
They have however managed to begin the internal dismantling of America with the Global Warming Scheme.

Rush's website reminds us that on 01/27/2006, Algore claimed that the world would end in ten years. We have 7 years, 6 months and 8 days remaining until that happens. Did we get a 2.5 year reprieve?

That's why the global warmists have so much invested in the EPA's final ruling, which will come in the next Administration. Any climate tax involves arguments about costs and benefits; voting to raise energy prices is not conducive to re-election. But if liberals can outsource their policies to the EPA, they can take credit while avoiding any accountability for the huge economic costs they impose.

Typical of the WSJ. They don't even mention that McCain is in step with this.

Would a McCain administration fight this?

"Even now they're doing the same thing with two cycle lawn machines, like weed eaters."

I don't find my four-cycle weed eater to be any larger than the two-cycle ones. The Japanese seem able to build smaller/lighter four-cycle engines.

We could be on the cusp of a new Dark Age,
both literally and figuratively.

As with with the previous Dark Ages, a major force in
keeping the lights off is a religion, in this case the
Cult of Global Hot Air. It has a strong dogma, a faith
not swayed at all by contrary evidence.

The presumptive Pope of the CGHA is Al Gore, as corrupt
as the Popes of yore. Standing in for the sale of sin
dispensations, our new age calls them Carbon Credits.

The EPA, no doubt, will head up Inquisitions.

Weigh it to make sure; you’ll find it is heavier than its two cycle predecessor. Also, you have to change its oil, something you don’t have to do with a two cycle weed eater.

They better bring the U.S.Military home. All of them!

They are going to need everyone of them, to help the local Gestapo's, if they are going to try and enact these kinds of destructive laws.

I find it interesting that our borders remain open, the gangs are allowed to take over cities, while these imbecile government hacks concern themselves about the continual fleecing of Americans, and the extermination of our nation.

"Also, you have to change its oil, something you don’t have to do with a two cycle weed eater."

Yeah, but you also have to maintain two different supplies of fuel---one with, and one without, admixed oil. No thanks---I'll stick with the four cycle, and my single tank of gas. And, in my experience, four-cycle engines hold up a lot better than two-cycle (I rebuilt a LOT of chain-saws engines in my "youth").

I recall many years ago after the Soviet Union broke apart that Gorbachev said that they had infiltrated the environmental movement to do just that.

I would also include in that the NEA, NOW, and homosexual organizations.

The Democrats want to regulate every detail of life to an extent that would make the Soviet Gosplan planners blush.

I thought he also claimed that in his book, “Earth in the Balance.” Wasn’t that about 16 years ago?

Horse power to weight ratio.... two cycle wins every time and it’s not even close. Cost... two cycle wins every time.Fuel consumption and dirty exhaust... four cycle wins.Ease of maintenance two cycle again. I would not have a four cycle chainsaw and as one who makes a sizeable portion of his living with one I know of what I speak.

“.on 01/27/2006, Algore claimed that the world would end in ten years. We have 7 years, 6 months and 8 days remaining until that happens. Did we get a 2.5 year reprieve?.” ~ pnh102

In reality, we only had until the year 2000 before we were to be wiped off the map. Like all false prophets, Algore merely “revised” that prediction. Read on:

July 18, 2008

“..Former Vice-President Al Gore came to Washington on July 17, 2008, to deliver yet another speech warning of the “climate crisis.”

“The leading experts predict that we have less than 10 years to make dramatic changes in our global warming pollution lest we lose our ability to ever recover from this environmental crisis,” Gore stated. But the former Vice President, who has been warning of a 10-year “tipping point” for several years now, appears to be unaware that the United Nations already started the 10 year countdown in 1989!

According to July 5, 1989, article in the Miami Herald, the then-director of the New York office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Noel Brown, warned of a “10-year window of opportunity to solve” global warming. According to the 1989 article, “A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ‘eco-refugees,’ threatening political chaos.” (LINK) & (LINK)

While Gore repeats his standard stump speech promoting man-made climate fears, much of the international science community is now openly dissenting from human caused global warming fears.

Below is a very small sampling of very inconvenient developments for Gore, the United Nations, and the mainstream media. Peer-reviewed studies, analyses, and prominent scientists continue to speak out to refute climate fears. The vast majority of data presented below is from just the past month.

Maybe those two cycle engines have improved since my experiences with them but I gave up on them because I never had one that lasted more than one season, without having to crank them until my arm was about to fall off.

I have an electric chain saw, weed eater and leaf blower, yes all that extension cord is a pain in the butt but it beats cranking and they are big enough for my purposes. I don’t have a boat but if I did I probably wouldn’t go electric with its engine..........
