Denver is a sanctuary city as well. An illegal, working in Mayor Hickenlooper’s restaurant, despite a criminal record, shot and killed a police officer who was hired to keep order at a baptism party in Denver.
He escaped to Mexico and after a lot of legal wrangling and a promise not to impose the death penalty on the murderous dog, he was returned to Denver.
If there were any REAL justice, that last sentence of yours would end, “...whereupon he was hanged.”
“He escaped to Mexico and after a lot of legal wrangling and a promise not to impose the death penalty on the murderous dog, he was returned to Denver.”
That would not have happened in Louisiana. Oh, Louisiana cops would have picked him up, allright, and put him in a car or a van to transport him to some holding facility, etc. But, he necessarily would have had to take a pee during the journey (which, incidentally, would have had to go through the Atchafalaya Basin); and, as he was let out of the vehicle to relieve himself — and the police officers, not wanting to cause him any embarrassment while he was peeing, would of course have to turn their heads away — he disappeared (no doubt fleeing into the bayous). And the police would just have to continue on their way, and when they arrived at their destination would swear the guy escaped. He would have escaped, allright, with a body full of lead and being digested in the juices of some alligator’s stomach.
