Is U.S. Bioterror Attack Just A Matter of Time?
The overriding question is whether the U.S. is “ready” for a bioterror attack. The answer could well rely on the “other” question of what bio-agent and what’s the source? In 1991, 40,000 Russian scientists dispersed throughout the World, with knowledge of what the U.S.S.R. was doing in chemical and biological weapons. The question is to whom did they sell their knowledge? Some believe former Soviet scientists sold technology to countries like Iran, Syria, and North Korea. Lurking is the spectre of al-Qaeda, a group that the Pentagon says continues to pursue biological weapons.
Another scenario is an outbreak of a pandemic. How would the U.S. deal with an infectious disease outbreak? The picture, despite reassurances, is not pretty. Until now, the U.S. has experienced two major biological attacks.
In 1984, the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his followers attempted to take over the town of the Dalles, Oregon by contaminating salad bars in the town. In 2001, there was the as yet unsolved mystery of the anthrax letters that killed five people.
But the question of bioterrorism extends to potential threats against our food supply and our clean water resources. It also extends to the threat of outbreaks of diseases in our animals populations. Here, the concern are diseases that attack animals but that can jump to humans. These are referred to as zoonotic diseases. The World Health Organization defines zonnotic diseases as:

Iranian agents infiltrated Bosnian intelligence service, Wahhabis could hit US, NATO in Bosnia - report
A Western intelligence report says there are 40,000 Wahhabis in Bosnia, many Al-Qaeda sympathizers and a significant number of Iranian agents that are part of Teheran’s intelligence service VEVAK, online site Serbianna reports, referring to the Bosnian Serb newspaper Press.
“VEVAK has completely infiltrated Bosnian intelligence service, and for their moles they recruit Bosnians that do not hide their sympathies for the Iranian nuclear program and show

open hatred for America and its administrations,” the report is quoted by the paper.
Wahhabis and Bosnian Muslim sympathizers of Al-Qaeda are ready to attack US and NATO troops stationed in Bosnia, according to the Western intelligence document. “In case that the leaders of Al-Qaeda and Wahhabis in Bosnia decide to attack, that attack will, most likely, be suicidal and aimed at first at massive gatherings of civilians, and in the second wave would attack EUFOR,” says the intelligence report as quoted by the Press.
The newspaper says that the report cites a Bosnian Muslim official with a code name of Jusuf who is a long time Iranian double agent and works in Bosnian intelligence agency. Jusuf used to be a member of the secret Muslim agency AID. The report also says that here are numerous Jihadist groups stationed in Bosnia that use various methods of operation but with the same aim against the allied force.
“Because of the white features, Bosnian and Kosovo Muslims are the most dangerous threat in the warfare. The case of Sulejman Talovic, the young Bosnian Muslim radical, who massacred in Salt Lake City in US is well known example. At this moment, EU and US are full with these ’sleepers’ who are awaiting a signal to sacrifice their lives for Jihad,” the report is quoted. The report also notes that in all attacks across Europe there always has been at least one terrorist who is from Bosnia, Serbianna marks.

A national RCMP inquiry has concluded that all of Canada’s major airports have been infiltrated by organized crime. The investigation, dubbed Project Spawn, examined hundreds of police files at Canada’s eight largest airports between 2005 and 2007 and concluded hundreds of people were involved in criminal activity at airports, including almost 300 current or former airport employees.

Officials at the United Nations, for whom Fowler is serving as special envoy to Niger, and the Canadian Foreign Affairs Department said Monday that the men went missing on the weekend. Their car was found about 45 kilometres northeast of Niamey, the capital of one of the world’s poorest countries.

Treasury Designates Bank Melli Front Company in New York City
Washington, DC—The U.S. Department of the Treasury today designated ASSA CORP., a front company created and controlled by Iran’s Bank Melli and domiciled in New York, and its parent organization, ASSA CO. LTD, located in the Channel Islands.
“This scheme to use a front company set up by Bank Melli — a known proliferator — to funnel money from the United States to Iran is yet another example of Iran’s duplicity,” said Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Stuart Levey. “The dangerous mix of proliferation and deception has led the United States, the European Union and Australia to designate Bank Melli, and the United Nations to issue a call for vigilance with respect to all Iranian banks.”
These entities were designated under Executive Order 13382 for being controlled by, and for acting for or on behalf of, Iran’s Bank Melli, and for having provided financial support for, or services in support of, Bank Melli. Bank Melli was previously designated under E.O. 13382 on October 25, 2007. E.O. 13382 is aimed at freezing the assets of proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their supporters.
Bank Melli provides financial services, including opening letters of credit and maintaining accounts, for Iranian front companies and entities engaged in proliferation activities. Further, Bank Melli has facilitated the purchase of sensitive materials utilized by Iran’s nuclear and missile industries, and has handled transactions for other designated Iranian entities, including Bank Sepah, Defense Industries Organization, and the Shahid Hammat Industrial Group.
Bank Melli has been designated as a proliferator by the United States and the European Union for its role in Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1803 calls on all member states to exercise vigilance with regard to activities between financial institutions in their countries and all Iranian banks, particularly Bank Melli.
Further, Bank Melli provides banking services to Iran’s military vanguard, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Qods Force, which is a branch of the IRGC that has been designated under Executive Order 13224 for providing support to terrorist groups, including the Taliban, Hizballah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command.
Bank Melli created ASSA CORP. as a vehicle to hold Bank Melli’s interest in a building located at 650 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York, whose construction had been financed, in part, by a Bank Melli loan. ASSA CORP. co-owns the building through a partnership formed with the Alavi Foundation of New York, called 650 Fifth Avenue Company.
ASSA CORP. has repeatedly transferred rental income generated from the 650 Fifth Avenue partnership back to Bank Melli through ASSA CO. LTD. ASSA CORP. also has regularly followed Bank Melli’s instructions with regard to ASSA CORP.’s affairs and its management of the investment, and has regularly reported back to Bank Melli on its financial situation, including frequently responding to Bank Melli requests for audits and information regarding company expenses.
This designation does not interfere with the business and other activities of the tenants of 650 Fifth Avenue, and U.S. persons are not prohibited from dealing with business establishments or other tenants of the building.
The preparation and execution of this designation required careful coordination with various components of the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the New York Police Department, and the New York County District Attorney’s Office.

FBI Addresses Unrelated Suspicious Mailings Received This Week
There have been two issues covered by the press this week concerning suspicious letters. These matters are not related. The first issue involves letters mailed from Texas to more than 40 different governors’ offices around the country and numerous U.S. Embassies overseas. Each of these envelopes contained a similar typewritten letter and a white powder substance. The powder was field tested at the site and then forwarded to a regional laboratory for further testing. To date, the testing on the powder has proven negative for any harmful substance. It will eventually be sent to the FBI Laboratory as evidence in the case. Even though the substance is harmless, this matter is still a federal crime and is being investigated by the FBI’s Dallas Division and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
In a second, unrelated matter, several U.S. military facilities throughout the country have received envelopes containing a computer disk and other material. There has been no powder substance in these mailings to date. As part of the FBI’s WMD protocol, agents in each field office interact with countless people in their communities to provide training on how to recognize suspicious mail and the proper notification procedures. In several instances involving the letters to the military bases, the FBI responded, examined the envelope, and determined there was no federal crime. The FBI does not investigate individuals who write letters expressing their opinions. As this action is protected under the First Amendment, the FBI is not investigating this matter.
