How about this deal. Say we go along with this shakedown. Make reparations a one-time payout. After you get your check, your names will be stricken forever from ALL listings of govenment handout programs such as food stamps and welfare. Secondly, you must show proof that you are a decendant of a slave. Without such proof, you don’t get a check. After that, all claims to further government assistance will no longer be recognized. You are on your own. One more proviso. You must find a job. Any job. Without a job, you don’t get a check. That should clean out the welfare rolls of a lot of driftwood. That should save a boat load of bucks in the long run.

The always-clueless Republicans let the apology for slavery & Jim Crow pass without opposition, thinking it would satisfy black activists, who would quietly go home and forget about reparations now that they’ve received an apology. The hapless Republicans were too stupid to realize that the apology was the Gulf of Tonkin resolution for reparations.
ummm did you ever hear of the American revolution? stay tuned as part 2 very well could be in our future. you can only push the good people so much before the take a stand even by force. i have said it for awhile now and i will say it again. if we do not get good leadership and soon that day will come.
A few more questions:
* Are pay-outs means tested? The more down-trodden you are, the more you’ve been harmed?
* What kind of proof is needed for slave lineage? One drop rule?
* Are heirs and families of very successful black people eligible?
* After the free money is doled out, then what? Is the issue solved? Can we get rid of affirmative action programs?
* How do you make sure only non-blacks pay for this?
We’re (the taxpayers) are scr3wed. The issue of reparations isn’t going away - it just needs a high-profile champion, like Obama. Why can’t our candidate come out with a strong, reasoned position against this? It’s not like he’s going to lose a significant number of votes since GOP blacks probably think this is ridiculous too.

Also, it was Obama’s Stuck-On-Stupid Party that, up until not that long ago, was the party of prejudice, segregation, and the KKK. How soon, and conveniently, they forget.
How about reparations from the families of former black slaves to the northern white families who lost loved ones in the Civil War that freed them?

Reparations are due the taxpayers for the enormous fleece of the past fifty years from the minorities communities. Get over yourselves and pitch in to renew America’s greatness.

I think Obama should propose a $1.50 tax on gasoline for all non-black motorists, as a nice simple way off making reparations payments. The public would love it... This would make a good viral email...

Agreed. There ARE two Americas: “God’s children” and the tax payers. Seems like every time we turn around some new thing is the tax payer’s fault or some new category or “God’s children” gets created that we end up supporting.
Please let him keep saying this. BTW we, the good guys, not the Confederates, lost 77 dead from combat deaths everyday from April 1861 to April 1865. If we lost that ratio of men today, it would be over 1 million dead, just from combat, not illness. We have already paid this debt in full with interest and it wasn’t even us who were keeping slaves.

Bringing up reparations seems to be a terrible strategy, but the MessiahObama may plan to take the reparations money out of the mouth of a fish. Of course, it may be slow going 4 drachmas at a time.
