Denver, CO (LifeNews.com) -- During the Democratic convention in Denver where pro-abortion presidential candidate Barack Obama will be coronated as the party's nominee, a leading pro-abortion group will put on a big shindig. Emily's List will unite failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Obama's wife Michelle.
That Barack Obama's wife would attend a gala for a pro-abortion group that supports partial-birth abortions and taxpayer-funded abortions is no surprise.
Michelle Obama came under fire in May for a letter she wrote defending partial-birth abortions. The 2004 letter, written to help Obama in his campaign for his U.S. Senate seat, opposes the ban on the abortion procedure.
The pairing of Clinton and Obama will be a means of raising funds for the presidential election -- giving the leading pro-abortion group cash to bash John McCain.
But the event will have an emotional impact as well, since Emily's List was squarely in Clinton's corner during the primary and fought with the Obama camp before the junior senator clinched the nomination.
The reception will take place on the Tuesday of the convention week -- August 26, the 88th anniversary of women's suffrage -- and will also feature pro-abortion House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
"Senator Clinton has long been a supporter of Emily's list and encouraging women to run for Congress," Emily's List spokeswoman Ramona Oliver said. "This is going to be a great year from women. We have a fantastic class of women running for Congress, Senate and the governor's office."
Political insiders have speculated about the role Clinton will play in the convention and Oliver confirmed that Clinton will be a spokeswoman for the pro-abortion side during the rest of the presidential campaign.
Emily's list has played a role in uniting the party, "talking about how (GOP presidential nominee John) McCain is obviously not the choice for women who care about things like pay equity and choice," Oliver said.
"This special event, held on the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage, will celebrate Democratic women as we come together for victory at the Democratic National Convention," the group says.
The 2 p.m. event will take place at the Sheraton Denver Hotel and ticket prices range from $500 for red carpet seating to $50 for general admission.

Ah, yes, doesn’t it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy how they can put aside their differences and work together massacring babies?
If only the current President would fulfill promises he made in 2000 and 2004 by putting these evil b*****s in jail and seizing the assets of anyone who gives them $$$. Donors are, after all, giving money to a criminal enterprise.
That’s right up there with another doozey I heard a couple of weeks ago. My carpool driver had “The NPR Evening News” on. Normally when this happens I just blot it out w/ my Ipod, but I’d forgotten to charge it. So I had to listen to the hyper politically correct anchorwoman (Melissa Norris?) blabber on about how if Obama isn’t elected that will be proof positive that this is a hatelful and racist country and that the U.S. would deserve to be obliterated.
I was in one of those states that was beyond mad: I was just dumbstruck and nearly paralyzed at the unmitigated treason I was hearing.
Isn’t it great to know that taxpayers dollars are actually used to pay socialists to go on the air and call for the violent overthrow of our country?
Why don’t we see hecklers (not counting the black guys who were set up) at Obama speeches?
McCain has had plenty of them.

Or we could all dress up in bee-keeper suits (jibjabs, jibobs or whatever you call them) and blow kisses at Obama.
You’d think Michelle, as a black woman who constantly sees America through the prism of black victimhood, would oppose abortion since Margaret Sanger conceived it as a way to control the black (negroid underclass), population. But no. Liberals and blacks avoid all mention of what abortion was and is intended to accomplish.
