Xinhua is in the far South of China. I believe that this will have no impact on the Olympics outside of diverting further security forces to crush further violence in the South.

Kashgar, or Kashi in Chinese, is the name of an oasis town that was once a stop on the Silk Road caravan routes and lies about 80 miles from the border with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
If the Chinese beef up border security (maybe a few divisions?) it might convince Pakistan to get serious about cracking down on their jihadists.
