Stupid question #525:

If C SPAN cameras are turned off inside the House, and other camera feeds are not allowed inside the House, why don't the Republican House members give speeches from the Steps of the Capitol Building where cameras are allowed?

Not a stupid question. Monday’s press conference was in an alcove in the U.S. Capitol. C-SPAN filmed and aired it.

You should be calling your member of Congress and demanding a vote. If an R, tell him/her to get back to Washington and join in the uprising.

The Republicans have done great...

I seriously hope that you aren't calling me a whiny conservative because I express some dissent from time to time. As for your 90% statistic, you're wrong. They've spent like Democrats and allowed our borders to be overrun. They've also kissed the Democrats butts over "the war", which allowed this to go on as long as it has. They should have grabbed a pair back in 1994 and stomped a mudhole in Iraq and Afganistan rather than all the whiny, "we're not going increase troop levels" that was whined by Rummy and W, every day, in order to appease the Democrats. They let the Dims define the war! Apparently, you are a Republican Party shill. I'm a conservative first, and a Republican when the party walks the walk.

Thursday is the earliest we can make it down to D.C.

We’ll keep an eye on the threads to see what is going on. Hopefully it will be.

You whiney “conservatives” who have been bashing the GOP are the “useful idiots” that the Marxists/Democrats speak of who are helping the Marxists/Democrats obtain that 60% majority and then they can let in 100’s of millions of 3rd world people and turn the U.S. into a socialist state. <<<

Boy!...Have u got it backwards!!!!...U...and the useless Marxist RINO GOPers are the “useful idiots”....

you're headed down the same slippery slope....just at a slightly slower pace......but the end result is still the same......a 3rd world socialist state!!!....
Drink your kool-aid with the rest of the useless RINO’s

No, you the liberal media and Michael Savage say the Republicans have “spent like Democrats”.

You and your ilk have no understanding that the U.S. is still a nation of laws. IT took Democrats/Marxists 100 years of Marxist legislation and immigration legislation to put the United States in the predicament it is in today.

You really expect a Republican Congress that had only a 51-50% bare majority to reverse all this mandatory spending the Democrats enacted over a hundreds years when you need a 60% super majority to do anything in Senate including passing legislation? You do because you are ignorant of the way the government works and you are whiny little children who cry when they don't get everything they want.

The U.S. is not a dictatorship yet.

It is Republican Mitch McConnel and the Republican minority in the Senate that has stopped much more Marxist legislation from the Democrat Controlled Congress from becoming law. Whether you like it or not The Republican minority in the Senate is the only thing standing in the way of socialism and hundreds of millions more 3rd world immigrants that the Democrats/Obama/McCain alliance want to destroy America with.

Who else is going to stop the Democrats ? Is McCAin? NO as he is one of them. Is Obama ? No he is a Marxist. Are other Democrats ? NO they are Marxists too. Is the media ? LOL no as they are the most rabid Marxists. Are the libertarians? LOL who then if not the Republicans can save America and our way of life. You forget Republicans stopped Amnesty last year and will have to do so again next year and also they will have to stop government healhthcare ,cap and trade and they will to stop the Democrats from crippling our energy industries (have to drill for more oil and oil shale). who is going to stop this besides the Republican minority in the Senate?

You are just Democrats/liberals/socialists posing as conservatives. Enjoy starving in a socialist state overrun by McCain's and the Democrats’ or Obama and the Democrats’ hundred million new 3rd world citizens. You caused this you and Michael Savage, the liberal media and Democrats in Congress.

You and I live a great life, a comfortable , a luxurious life now thanks to the Republican party. But you whine and cry and now you will see the horrors of socialism where there is no running water and you haven't bathed in years or eaten in months and you are a parasite infested, starving, skeleton, waiting in breadline all day , of course you did all this for the common good and because the Republicans were so “bad”.

Wow! I've always wanted to have "ilk"! ...and Michael Savage is an idiot, so don't lump me in with him please. I am a conservative; the Republican Party is NOT conservative, it's just the party that's slightly to the right of the Democratic Party.. Yes, they stopped amnesty, for now, but they continue to let the illegals flow over the border while they're busy spending like Democrats on their own pork projects. You really should quit whining about the fact that the Pubbies only had 50-51% of the congress (in the past). The fact is that they had both houses of congress and the presidency. They failed to effectively use their bully pulpit to frame their argument.

Are there enough people there for the required 1/5 vote to enter it into the record, or is that 1/5 of members present, which they, of course, will have?

Every bill needs to pass the Senate regardless of what happens in the House or who the president is. So before anything can get done you better have 60% of the votes in the senate and Republicans didn’t have 60% but 51% to 50%.So when you, your ilk, and liberal mainstream media say that the Republicans had control of both houses of Congress you are wrong and or LYING or both.

If If the Republicans had 60% of the Senate THEN they would be in control. But they didn’t so Democrats could stop any bill they wanted to by filibuster as they did drilling in ANWR, Medicaid cuts, making the tax cuts permanent, ssi privatization etc.

Are you just unable to comprehend simple math or do you just want to bash the GOP 24/7 to help your party, the Democrat party?

You make it seem like stopping Amnesty was no big deal. Democrats will destroy the U.S. by bringing in hundreds of millions of 3rd world people once they achieve 60% of the Senate and have McCain or Obama as president. And they will do it with your help and all the rest of the “conservatives” who refuse to support THE ONLY THING THAT CAN STOP THE DEMOCRATS/SOCIALISM , THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. If you can tell me of another party that can stop the Democrats then do otherwise support the Republican party or get ready to starve as they did in the USSR, Cuba, Eastern Europe, N korea, Cambodia etc . etc. etc

I love the fact that I can think for myself, and that I don't need a Party to think for me. I know I'm still thinking for myself when some folks try to rip on me... some call me libertarian; some say I'm too conservative; some don't like that I'll vote for McCain because he's the lesser of two evils; some (like this dillweed, rurgan) even call me a Democrat! Hey rurgan, throughout this decade, the Republican Party has spent like Democrats, and they have no spine! (except for a few)

“Hey rurgan, throughout this decade, the Republican Party has spent like Democrats, and they have no spine”

That’s a totally false statement.

I explained it already. Did you not understand?

Most of the government spending is mandatory and the only to cut spending is to change or repeal those laws that maddate that spending like social security, medicaid, medicare , government schools, HUD etc.

It took Democrats 100 years of socialist legislation to build this huge government you and the liberal media would like everyone to believe that the Republicans with a 51%-50% bare majority could do away with all this legislation when you need 60% majority to pass any new law in the Senate.

You think this is a dictatorship where the Republicans rule by decree? No almost all spending has to be repealed by passing laws as almost all spending is mandated by laws. Am I not explaining this correctly or what? The liberal media and government schools sure don’t teach this or else the public is just not smart enough to understand this.
