Illegal cash to Obama: WND stands accused
World Net Daily ^ | August 7, 2008 | WND Editorial

Posted on 08/07/2008 3:32:42 AM PDT by Amityschild

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign has admitted to receiving $33,500 in illegal foreign contributions from three brothers in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, but the left-wing Daily Kos website suggests WND – whose Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein investigated the story – might have concocted a convoluted scheme to make the Illinois senator look bad.

The brothers in question – Monir, Hosan and Osama Edwan – spoke on the record about the online donations to the presidential candidate.

"It could be true that [donations] were made, but as a part of a deliberate set-up to make Obama look bad. ... Aaron Klein reports from the Israel for WND. ... Again, obviously if an actual illegal donation was actually made it should be returned, but it would be interesting to find out who really made it and why," reads an article on the Daily Kos site.

"By the way, Aaron Klein is clearly an [sic] conservative anti-Obama reporter for the ultra-right-wing WorldNetDaily," the site contends.

This story has some crazy twists and turns. Now Daily Kos is accusing WND of concocting it?

I know positively that I discovered the story, gave it to Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs, she ran with it (last Thursday, July 31). WND did what they do...investigated Pamela's story and came up with the interview of Monir Edwan in Gaza.

Fantastic journalism!! There is far too little of it today!

Well, it might be a bit of projection...after all, this is similar to what the lefties admitted they pulled on Ron Paul.

WND did what they do...investigated Pamela's story and came up with the interview of Monir Edwan in Gaza.

When did WND start this approach?

I applaud them for this change...it should be much better than their "hear a rumor, embellish it a bit, then publish it as news" approach to date. They occasionally provided some early-warning or heads-up on unknown stories, but the research to determine whether it was true or not was always left to the reader.

Alas, according to my quick research over at the FEC website and searchable databse, this appears to be true.

Oh no -- if the charges cannot be traced to racism, then they will surely be part of an intentional conspiracy set up.

And the Left referred to Reagan as the "Teflon Man".

The Mark Levin Show guest host Tom Marr reported this story yesterday (and I called in), but otherwise the national media is asleep at the wheel.

There are stories floating that McCain is taking bundled money with questionable sources. These stories are in the main...Our WaPo favorite, Matthew Mosk, filed a front page Bundler Collects from Unlikely Donors story with many inaccuracies. See Amanda Carpenter's response here.

Another Correction to the McCain Story

It's time for some true investigative journalism. There is no THERE THERE with McCain's contributions. There is stink all over Obama's.

Anyone can look at the records and see for themselves. I did.

That’s an interesting question. I have no idea. Isn’t George Soros a US Citizen? When I think of MoveOn, I think Soros.

Daily Kos readers are SOOO SLOPPY! They are quoting the Obama camps claim the money has been returned. Can they dig at all? The Gaza donor, I believe it was Monir Edwan, was contacted and denies the funds were returned.

Typical Daily Kos Reader. This requires vigilance on our part. The correct story needs to get out. It needs to get out now!

What does this have to do with the story? The facts are out there. Go to FEC.Gov and search the donations. Geez.

So the fact that they accepted the illegal donations, whether it was a setup or not, makes no difference?

Typical libs.

"It could be true that [donations] were made, but as a part of a deliberate set-up to make Obama look bad.

It doesn't matter if it was a set up or not. Obama's campaign, and ultimately Obama, is responsible for accepting illegal donations, set up or no. Vetting the donations is part of the process. Giving the money back when a mistake is made is also part of the process, but apparently Obama and the boys think they can say they returned it and that is good enough!

It is amazing how much obfuscation communist are capable of.

Amityschild, I think ASA Vet meant that the statement that WND was ultra right wing was kind of a stupid thing for the article to point out as everyone knows they are right wing. At least I hope that is what he/she meant!:)

of the millions going to Obama through Internet fund raising,is there anyway, or interest by FEC to determine if any, or how much, is foreign. Supposedly it is in small unreported amounts. It seems ripe to circumvent the rules.

Not that there's anything wrong with a Citizen of the World receiving donations from other peace-loving C.O.W.s.

An investigation will show that the tool of reactionaries, Karl Rove, provided the money orders in a tunnel connecting Egypt with Gaza--

--and that forensic analysis will reveal a watermark from Dick Cheney's bourbon glass.

Greetings ASA Vet:

A lie told often enough becomes accepted as the truth. So I’m growing tired of this repeating assertion World Net Daily (WND) is not a reputable media news source.

Care to cite an instance where news reported by WND was factually incorrect?

Cheers,
OLA
