Here are numerous pictures from various online Russian and Georgian news outlest of the conflict in Georgia where Russia has now intevened on the ground and in the air and invaded Georgia over the Ossetian Seperatists.

But we have to be very serious about it and be very quick in making it happen. Putin is gamblling that we either A) Won't, or B) Can't make it happen quickly enough.
My prayers are that Georgia can hold out and that we will get the help to them.

I agree we screwed them or rather Clinton screwed them. However, the staunch ally thing, what did they ever do for us as far as being an allay? They were/are a staunch allay of Russia, not the U.S.

If Kosovo, why not Ossetia? Independence or Federation with Russia. Ditto Abkhazia.

Putin and his ilk are not our allies, they will go along with us only when it aligns with their plans (not very often) and oppose us when it does not (most of the time).
Georgia on the other hand has been unwaivering when they did not have to be, and when in fact, as it is now showing, when it was risky for them to be.
You do not return that type of support and friendship with a back hand or a tossing under the bus.
Besides, the broader implications of this Sudetenland gambit are much more serious than the local seperatist conflict. We can not embolden the likes of Putin and his ilk in the least, and more than we can Iran...and in fact, IMHO, even less. This one is even more serious...and Putin knows it and it is why he is acting now on the eve of Bush's admin, close to an election, and during the Olympics.

Wrong. They are an Iranian-related people who are 70-80% Orthodox Christian, with the remainder Sunni. Their language, culture and ethnicity is not related to Russia.
