No, THEY have to lead this time. They have broiled us alive for attempting to lead in the War on Terror. This is aimed directly at Europe. Time for THEM to lead one.

We too have interests in this...a staunbch ally who readily answered our call for military help, a strategic tie into the Caspian region and the Stan states, oil from those regions.

If we do not act, as I said, no one will, and we will also be the worse for it...and the opening move in Putins re-establishment of the block states will go un-opposed and he will proceed with his next moves emboldened.

We dont have to wait for NATO. Turkey is an ally and they are NOT in NATO. The Turks have a nice cadre of American planes in country and we of course could supply some from the Iraqi arena if need be and NATO can back us up when they get approval from the Bureau of Bureaucracy (or when they see its safe to do so). We can back off when the Russians get off Georgian Turf. Or we can send Barrack Obama and his wife over to talk with the Russian's in Georgia. I'm sure they will listen to him...after all hes almost as famous as Paris Hilton.

I know this is off-topic, but I just loved watching the U.S. men's 400m freestyle relay team beat the French team yesterday, especially since the French team had been issuing statements earlier such as, "We're going to smash the Americans. That's what we came for." They were heavily favored in the race, but the U.S. team beat them by 0.08 seconds. Ha! They were very quiet after that.
