I have been crying all morning. I am devastated. Thanks for thinking of me. I know you are keeping the Georgian people in your prayers.

Im talking about restraint. There already are people bashing Bush for doing nothing.

Did Georgia prewarn Bush that they were going in with troops into South Ossetia and Abkhazia? So why should we jump into the fray?

We need to show our muscle and make sure we are not going to lose this corrider to service our troops and at the same time support an ally.

Five carriers and our intelligence can go along way.

This whole thing bring into clarity how utterly clueless hopeless, inane and rediculous is an Obama presidency.

Well, of course, I think the whole situation sucks the big one and I think that Putin has studied the chess board well. I was simply trying to point out that there is a nearly infinite number of military, economic, and diplomatic strategies that exist in between the extremes of “nothing” and “nukes” and that some of those strategies will be implemented and that some of those that are implemented will be overt and some will be covert. Kasparov was a master, but he could be beaten, and I think there are many many moves yet to be played in this game. It is possible that a knight may have been lost but the game has yet to be played out. Perhaps I did not explain myself very well. You buy me a beer and I’ll buy you one and we’ll call it even, aw, what the hell, I’ll buy us both one.
p.s. my survival supplies and my bug-out-bag and my escape plan are ALWAYS at the ready ... I was raised to rely on NO man NOR government for the safety and security of myself or my family.

That proxy war saved us from WWIII.

Or maybe postponed it

Bush should jump on board this. It is the type of thing history turns on.

I know, and they are awesome courageous men of integrity, so few and far between in life today.

Additionally what you have shared with me has been the one spot of light in my day. I cannot thank you enough. It is heartwarming to know that these men care about liberty and freedom and are willing to show it to the world.

Well, you're wrong, Jim.

Read my other posts to learn how we could use non-military means to check this move.

Israel is about to jump far higher than we have given them the OK to do. They would love to take out Iran's nuke facilities.

Yes, Georgia is toast for now. But if we strangled Iran, we could damage the Soviet Union's economy just as they are trying to do to eastern Europe and to American through Iran.

We could also work with Turkey to open new oil distribution routes to take away the importance of Georgia in that capacity.

There is a lot we could do to help out this ally of ours.

And we must put Putin in his place or we risk facing another series of aggressive actions like the world witnessed from Hitler.

But they haven't accounted for every response...nor could they. If they were that good, the Soviets would never have fallen, and yet they did, and precipitously.

I have faith that there are ways to defeat this tyrant..and with God's grace, we will find that way.

MarMema, the Georgian people are in my family’s prayer.

As minister of the word of God in apostolic preaching, you equaled Andrew the first-called and the rest of the Apostles. Enlightener of Georgia and instruments of the Holy Spirit, holy Nina, equal to the Apostles, entreat Christ God that our souls may be saved.

Reminds me of the brave Danes when the Nazi's were making the jews wear the Star of David.

He began to wear the same Star of David in solidarity with them. The Danes stood their ground against evil and protected the innocent.

Originally I thought that we shouldn’t get involved. However, now that Russia has invaded Georgia beyond simply occupying S. Ossetia I don’t believe that we can afford to sit still and let an ally be crushed. We should use the same sort of brinkmanship that we used in the Cold War. Perhaps sending a carrier group into the Black Sea and relocating a fighter wing into Georgia. By doing that we would show the Russians that we are serious without actually attacking them and provoking WWIII.

If the rumors are correct that makes 6 heads of state that are going to stand with the president of Georgia.

Russia would be crazy to risk killing them.

What if this was really a ploy by Putin and Amahnutjob of Iran, to pull troops and resources out of Iraq and away from Isreal for an Iranian strike on Isreal. Wouldn’t it be to both of their advantages?

Having read all of Joel Rosenberg's novels, the very idea freaks me out.
